My crotch is on fire

Oh god I can't believe I'm posting this. Period arrived a couple of days early so grabbed a pad from my sister's. It's an always maxi and it is irritating the fucking life out of me. It literally feels like my crotch is on fire. I'm waiting in a queue that I can't leave (because groceries) and all i want to do is rive my skin off.

Luckily I have my beloved lillets so I can go and change but fuck me I never knew always products had got this bad!

Sounds like an allergic reaction

Water41 · 04/02/2025 15:53

Sorry I'm posting here to distract myself a bit! I feel like I'm walking like John Wayne!

They're scented now. I switched to bodyform.

pizzaHeart · 04/02/2025 16:09

Some pads are so perfumed that you can smell them through the packaging. Hope you got to the loo by now. Lillets are fab, we do a special trip for them once in a few months for DD as they are not available everywhere.
I had bad experience with daily Always some time ago so now watch them as a hawk. Boots own pads are ok ( and cheaper)

We did something similar when a neighbour’s Citroen Saxo went up in flames

Water41 · 04/02/2025 16:16

It's unscented apparently (I checked before putting it on)

Never again. I'd rather use a wodge of toilet paper that one of those. It literally felt like it was burning me. ☹️

I use lillets maternity pads because they're really soft and comfy!

I buy mine on Amazon!

Those reeking pads drive me mad. The pad aisle smells like a cheap restaurant toilet.

They must be in kahoots with Canesten!

Mischance · 04/02/2025 16:22

At my adult DDs I once was in the loo and the paper had run out, so I grabbed what I thought was a wet wipe - it was a dettox wipe! - OUCH!!! Luckily the shower was right by the loo!

Mirabai · 04/02/2025 16:32

My question is - who decided women wanted scented pads? I bet it was a man.

CantStopBuyingSeeds · 04/02/2025 18:01

@MooseBeTimeForSnow PLEEEEASE tell me you blasted it on repeat with the windows open

CantStopBuyingSeeds · 04/02/2025 18:02

Am singing it to the tune of "this girl is on fire."

Threewheeler1 · 04/02/2025 18:09

Ouch 😩
Aloe vera helps, especially if you keep it in the fridge.
Once had the worst itch caused by changing my washing powder.
Had to do a sort of hip thrusting speed walkers action on the way home just to get some crotch relief as it's not really acceptable to give things a good hoof in public...😬

pizzaHeart · 04/02/2025 18:25

@Water41 @CantStopBuyingSeeds
thank you ! I haven’t realised that they are available on Amazon

Water41 · 05/02/2025 06:48

Much better this morning thank god. Genuinely wanted to rip my skin off yesterday while wearing the bloody thing!

Lighthearted. As you’re much better l’ll say this now (seemed inappropriate before); some women will do anything to attract a fireman 😀!

JellyComb · 05/02/2025 13:08

I like the scented ones! (They don't irritate me at all).

curious79 · 05/02/2025 13:15

most period products these days, and particularly the typical ones stocked, have tonnes of forever chemicals in them. Plus the plastics mean they cause sweating and irritation. I speak from experience as a former fiery crotch person.

I love more natural brands, with organic unbleached cotton. Including:
Daye - yourdaye.com
&Sisters - plastic free, available from Boots

I use a moon cup, have done for years now, which has massively cut down costs. wearemooncup.com
Getting used to a moon cup is probably best done over a weekend, in the summer, with easy access to loo and sink (I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing initially and managed not to cover my cervix on an outing - ok as was wearing a light pad) but once you get it it is brilliant.

Look after your vag!!

Water41 · 05/02/2025 13:58

I can't wear anything internally unfortunately. I will look at those pads though, thank you!

I tried washable ones and found them are too bulky, to the point they chafed my thighs.
