Bank branches

So after visiting my local bank branch today, the bank clerk advised me that I could also make banking deposits at the Post office. Genuinely intrigued as to why banking staff are actively redirecting their customers away to other places, thus making their particular branch even quieter. Don't they won't to keep their jobs?

Every time I go to the bank, there are posters everywhere as well as bank staff telling you how easy it is to do stuff online. It is easy for straightforward stuff, but occassionally I need to fo to the bank.
I mean no one goes for fun so you can conclude either the customer doesn't feel comfortable with doing stuff online or the problem isn't fixable via the app!

Because the date of closure of the bank is already known to them? Banks are shutting branches every week.

@Wishingplenty "Don't they won't to keep their jobs?"

this is what they are ordered to do by their bosses in order to keep their job for the remaining time the branch is open.

I agree. I even ask the staff aren’t they worried that they are putting the jobs at risk. “Oh no” they say - three out of four of the banks have now closed. All the local village/ small town branches went first. Last year the big town branch went. I now have to go 15 miles into Manchester if I want to go to a branch!
My business bank branch won’t take coins anymore- you have to go to the post office (a lot of those have closed too!). It’s so frustrating!
