What's this on DS's neck?

He complained it was itching before bed but couldn't see anything at the time. Now he's asleep he seems to have come out in quite a rash.

I can't think of anything it could be - any ideas?

I have OCD around contamination/infestation so really struggle with things like this. My brain has gone straight to scabies and bed bugs though it would seem atypical for both of those.

Surely it looks like that purely because he's been itching it? So what we're looking at isn't a 'hive' as such, it's redness from itching a possibly very small irritated area?

He is not even awake with this
Please don't let your ds pick up on your anxiety.
It's a completely normal skin reaction to an every day something .... him scratching or yes maybe something else
That something else will not be a thing in a very short time
and you will likely never know
It really doesn't matter
I don't mean to upset you really but your overthinking so get some rest and perhaps gently think about how to best address your anxieties
Again sorry if this sounds harsh
He's fine

Looks like some sort of insect bite to me. Not sure if anyone else can make out two pin prick pink spots in the pink which indicates a bite to me.

It'll probably be gone in the morning if he doesn't itch it during the night.

It's not bed bugs. It doesn't even look like a bite but you'll see one when the redness has gone down if it is.

An antihistamine should sort it.

Take great care not to pass this OTT anxiety on to him

Spiders can bite. I was bitten on the neck once by a little one I took by surprise when I put my coat on. Little bugger, I didn't think they could pierce the skin that little. Looked like 2 little pinpricks next to each other.

Probably just an itchy bit and he's scratched it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you trying to deal with your ocd?

Check the neck label on the top he was wearing, some can be quite rough-edged.
