This popped up on my iPhone news app so I don't think there's a paywall. It made my blood boil. Basically Brand has moved to Florida and become a fixture of hard right figures over there, mates with Jordan Peterson, Marjorie Taylor Green, Trump Jnr, and is getting a "Global Defender of Freedom" medal from Trump FFS.

It seems that if the CPS go ahead and charge him with multiple rapes he may be safe in America and extradition requests would need to be made through Washington - where he is now fully protected.

He has made an almighty swing to far right from his original very left wing stance. When this happens it just makes me disbelieve he ever had any actual convictions. He's repulsive and so is the hard right movement for lauding these men.

I just want to scream at how far backwards we seem to going on misogyny and decency. In my lifetime I always thought things would slowly keep getting better, but it seems not.

IMO it's not much of a surprise because I think the far right and far left have a great deal in common.

I saw Russell Brand when he used to do a stand up during his Trews time. He used to live near me.

He was over an hour late and didn't apologise. He spent the whole time scanning the women in the audience. He was going through an 'intellectual' phase where he was reading heavy books.

It was very obvious that he was just pulling quotes from them and hadn't read them. He didn't really make a lot of sense.

At the end there was a Q&A where a young man, dressed like him, said he was an addict and did Brand have any advice. Brand just dismissed him, it must have been humiliating.

He's a very shallow thinker so it's no surprise to me that he flits from ideology to ideology and is now far right. The toxic masculinity that surrounds the movement is ideal for him.

I hope he gets charged.

I think historically he definitely has a criminal record but it's probably too long ago for it to be actioned in the US. And I'm sure trump has let him in anyway
