I've got an overnight stay in Nottingham next weekend (sat night) and I've never been before. I'm not worried about driving in areas I don’t know, just finding a parking spot. How busy do the car parks get? Will parking get really busy in the afternoon? Am I better off going in earlier?

I won’t have a lot of luggage as its only one night. The hotel itself doesn't have it's own parking, but there is one across the road that the website says to use. I have checked and it is 24 hours.

Any other way to get into the city? I see there is a tram network, but can I leave my car overnight outside Nottingham and get the tram in and out the next day?

I've looked at trains, but what is a 2 and half hour drive is a 3-4 hour train journey with 2-3 changes so not ideal. I've also looked at coaches, but to get one to Nottingham I’d have to drive over an hour anyway so I think driving in myself is the best option.

Any advice from Nottingham based MNers or anyone that knows Notthingham would be very much appreciated.

You could park in West Bridgford and get the tram in, an uber or a bus, Bridgford road carpark has a decent amount of spaces. Or do the tram park and ride in Clifton.

You should be able to get a spot no problem, is it business or pleasure?

Where in Nottingham is your hotel? And what direction / motorway will you be coming from?

MrsSpencerCharnas · 02/02/2025 10:39

@AyeupDuck Its pleasure - have tickets for Papa Roach

@DeepFatFried Its the Ibis in Fletcher Gate. Was looking to park at Lace Market car park., coming from the North.

If you are coming from the North J26 of the M1 has a tram terminus - always plenty of parking and an easy route from the Motorway. Can't for the life of me remember the name of it though 🙄
