Move there - or never return?

Inspired by a recent conversation on holiday - if you had the choice of moving to your favourite holiday destination or never going there again, which would you pick?

For the purposes of the exercise, you’re allowed to go home for visits, but your permanent residence would be in the holiday destination.

I've only ever gone on a foreign holiday once in my life. That was 25 years ago. I wonder if Ryanair will still accept a modification on my ticket for the date of my return flight? After all, I paid for it.

Well if I could still work and earn the same money I'd move in an instant

I'd move there in a heartbeat.

I find it interesting, because so much depends on the destination and why you go back regularly.

In our case, all of us on the trip said we’d rather not go back - the reason being that it’s very much a “sun and nightlife” destination, rather than somewhere particularly lovely. On a permanent basis, I’d very much miss the wider benefits, facilities and cultural options of my life in the UK. But there are other places I’ve been less often where I think I could potentially make a life.

Absolutely and I often wonder why we haven't already moved there (nothing stopping us)?
We have been going there since I was a toddler and go so often (multiple times a year) that it has always felt like home.

Move, no question. In fact I said to DH this morning that the state of this country makes me wish we were younger and then we wouldn’t hesitate to go.
