... what do you get that the free standard version doesn't give?

Even the free chatgpt version could answer this for you.

ACandleOnAGinBottle · 01/02/2025 16:17

That's witty and helpful in equal measures @TheDandyLion

I am hoping to hear what other people get out of it, but thanks.

I subscribe to the paid version and I wouldn't go back now - I use it loads and I find it really useful! I've asked it what benefits it has over the free version, and this is what it said:

  1. Access to GPT-4 Turbo

Free users only get GPT-3.5, while you get GPT-4 Turbo, which is faster, more advanced, and more accurate.

It’s better at reasoning, longer conversations, and handling complex tasks.

  1. Faster Responses & Fewer Limitations

You get priority access, meaning your responses are quicker, even when demand is high.

Free users might get cut off or rate-limited, but you can use it as much as you want without interruptions.

  1. File Uploads & Analysis

You can upload files (like PDFs, Excel sheets, or images), and I can analyze, summarize, or extract data from them.

Free users don’t have this feature at all.

  1. Better Code & Math Support

Your version includes Python execution, so I can run code, generate plots, and analyze data directly.

Free users don’t have any interactive code execution.

  1. Web Browsing for Real-Time Info

You can get up-to-date information from the web, which is perfect for research, recent events, and real-time queries.

Free users are stuck with static, outdated knowledge.

  1. Image Generation

You can generate AI images using DALL·E 3, including the ability to edit images with inpainting.

Free users don’t have any image-generation capabilities.

  1. Memory & Personalisation

I can remember things you tell me over multiple chats, so I get better at helping you over time.

Free users have no memory, so I’d forget everything between chats.

I find the memory function particularly useful, as well as being able to upload files.

Also, it didn't list it above, but I think it's only available to paid subscribers - voice chats! Which I love! If I'm stuck on something I can just chat away to it while it helps me 😊

What is the paid for service for ChatGPT called?

Glorybox2025 · 01/02/2025 17:11

DH does for work - as well as Claude and various other AIs. He is currently doing a lot of coding so he needs the more sophisticated versions and unlimited questions.

I think that link is for developers. This is what I subscribe to (the plus version)...
