I had a fingernail removed today at hospital for a biopsy of a tumor below. This also involved removing and stitching the nail bed.
I was given very little information on aftercare - just a piece of paper which said to change the dressing after 5 days with no further details.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this done and knows what I should do? I am a bit worried that by 5 days the existing dressing will be stuck to the nail bed and how I should remove it. Everything online seems to suggest changing the dressing every 24-48 hours but maybe it is longer here due to the stitches?
Also any ideas what type of dressing would be best? I am wondering if I should get a nurse at the GP to look at it but the surgeon seemed to think I should manage it at home.
