Negging Valentines Day cards?

Anyone else noticed this? 'I love your stupid face' etc?

Yeah, loads of edgy “you’re a twat but you’re MY twat” cards around this year. Obvs trying to be novel and funny but if I opened one of them I’d give it back without even reading it. If you can’t be romantic and kind on the one day of the year dedicated to being romantic and kind to your partner then what’s the fucking point?!

I thought the same thing. Awful - almost encouraging emotional abuse and making it mainstream.

It’s incel speak. My understanding is that it’s when you subtly insult a woman with veiled negative remarks thereby gradually chipping away at her self esteem in order to make her more vulnerable/ trick her into dating/ sleeping with you or to make her more submissive. It’s sort of like reverse psychology but more nefarious.

Are there more than normal this year? There’s always been “insulting” cards, especially for birthdays. I thought they just catered to that sense of humour so not really insulting if you know the recipient will find it funny

I would never give a soppy puke inducing card to my dh so I like the sarcastic ones.

I once bought my husband a mug saying you'll do. He's my absolute rock and soul twin but we don't do soppy. We're going to a theme dinner on valentines night :-)

Dh and I have a competition to find the most soppy and vomit inducing cards.

Much more fun than trying to find a decent card. God knows what visitors think then they see massive, padded, glittery cards with kissing Teddy bears on the fireplace.

I've seen them and I don't get it. Call me old fashioned but I really like making valentine's day slideshows with photos and yes, I add some inner jokes and funny bunters we've had with my SO but these are just that, our inner jokes! I don't get the appeal of random negging that makes no sense. It's not nice.
