Hi Everyone who might be interested, a thread for anyone who wants an accountability check-in for their moderate Feb drinking!

OP posts:

hello everyone, a dry AF week/month so far for me, so am feeling pleased. And there's still at least a glass left in the last bottle I opened, so I didn't fall prey to the 'may as well finish that and be tidy' line of reasoning which has happened before. Working the % figures has really helped me to stay on moderation target. And I also like the 'no more than 8 days' target too. We'll see.

Addictforanex · 07/03/2025 07:33

Trickier this month as 5 weekends in it.

HollyGolightly4 · 07/03/2025 18:42

I think I might do lent. I've made a start, and it will help with the weekends!

socks1107 · 07/03/2025 20:25

Normal Friday night here and I've stuck to my 4 small wines again! I'm starting to feel it now so I think I'd be quite drunk on mediums and the bill is cheaper. Feels great to have cut down and still be enjoying my routine of weekends.
I no longer want a 5th either, I've had 4 and am satisfied with that. Huge shift from last year.
Well done everyone still posting and going on our own path to finding what's right for us. It's nice to be part of a group that doesn't judge even if we do drink a few

Cattery · 07/03/2025 21:09

No drinks for me tonight. I seem to have got out of the Friday habit by telling myself two nights a week only. I had drinks on Wednesday night with the football so I’ve only “allowed” myself Saturday night now

ThePoshUns · 08/03/2025 07:27

Well done. I had half a bottle last night and I know I will drink tonight as am going to my favourite pub for dinner. I'm also away for a long weekend next week so may as well write this month off. I have the breaking strain of a kitkat.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/03/2025 07:30

Friday night is always my downfall. But last night I had 2 in the pub, one when I got home and switched to tea. I’m up very early on a Saturday for me to go for a run.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/03/2025 07:33

“I have the breaking strain of a kitkat”

I am stealing that!

Another one I like is “if I were any weaker I’d be a fortnight”.

but don’t write the whole month off because of a few boozy moments. That’s how every diet I’ve ever done fails.

ThePoshUns · 08/03/2025 09:21

Yes I think I'll allow myself to enjoy my weekend away and start again when I get back. Even when im away this thread will make me mindful of what I drink and I do stop now rather than keep going until I fall asleep.

Well done on that . I was proud for only having half a bottle, normally on a Friday I have at least a whole one and sometimes a few GnTs

TonstantWeader · 11/03/2025 20:50

ditto. Popping in here tonight because it's been a long ol' busy day at work, and the wine witch isn't just whispering to me, she's bellowing 'Vindaloo' at me from the other side of the kitchen door. And we only have red in the house, and I need to be up early. So I'm keeping quiet because I reckon if I say 'fancy a cheeky glass?' to DH he'll be getting glasses from the cupboard quicker than a rat up a drainpipe, and I really want to stay AF tonight.

Send me those strengthening vibes! I can do this <fistbump>

ThePoshUns · 11/03/2025 21:50

Hopefully you stayed strong.

TonstantWeader · 12/03/2025 19:09

I did, thanks! I went and had a shower and then straight to read in bed with the dog curled up on my legs. Felt v v smug this morning, ha ha ha. Just need to do the same tonight and tomorrow night.......

ThePoshUns · 12/03/2025 19:42

Well done!👏

TonstantWeader · 21/03/2025 20:19

hello everyone, how are we all? Phew, what a week at work, but I'm being smuggy mcsmugface about having kept AF during all of it. Bed at 9 because of being so knackered, up by 6 as a result, but actually feeling v good when I woke up. I do have a glass in front of me tonight but it's on the table untouched atm and not in my hand as yet, so I shall savour it.

ThePoshUns · 21/03/2025 21:10

Hi. Had a really boozy weekend away last weekend. Opened a bottle tonight. Have had one glass and stopped. I’m so tired after a busy week so not fancying wine. Previously I’d keep going regardless so I see this as a win.

TonstantWeader · 21/03/2025 21:13

I think that's an enormous win so I'd take that one! Hope you feel the benefit tomorrow, too.

ThePoshUns · 21/03/2025 22:00

And to you @TonstantWeader

Cattery · 22/03/2025 11:42

AF all week but had a few drinks last night. Why??? It was because it was “Friday”. Pathetic. No more drinking until next Friday when I have a wedding to go to x

ThePoshUns · 22/03/2025 18:37

Friday is definitely my downfall day. I really don’t know how to mark the end of a working week without having a drink.

Biggerbucket · 23/03/2025 07:36

Re-joining this thread after weeks, completed dry January but struggling like many with weeekends, especially Friday and Sat.

@ThePoshUns I plan a very quick and easy meal for some Fridays and out of house activity, so can’t drink as must drive. Ikea once a month for little bits in each trip, cinema as we had free tickets with bank account, see a friend at her house etc.

ThePoshUns · 23/03/2025 08:24

Ikea is a good shout @Biggerbucket

Cattery · 23/03/2025 09:36

And then I did it again last night because it was “Saturday”. Ffs x

Eatinpeachesonthebeaches · 23/03/2025 09:57

Fell off the wagon on Thursday night with wine x 1, brandy x 2 and grand marnier (small glass ). Was probably down to forthcoming changes at work so need to find another way to calm down when this sort of thing happens. One of the reasons why I drink in the first place. AF Friday and Saturday.

ThePoshUns · 23/03/2025 10:57

That’s not a huge amount @Eatinpeachesonthebeaches ( great username btw), especially if you were AF all weekend. I can’t see me ever being AF on weekends but will take it as win if I drink less. I’m certainly more mindful and stop when I’ve had enough rather than mindlessly drinking a whole bottle. I certainly haven’t felt hungover in a long time.
