Hi Everyone who might be interested, a thread for anyone who wants an accountability check-in for their moderate Feb drinking!

OP posts:
Hedjwitch · 19/02/2025 20:25

Struggling. Using the app to record AF days and clear pattern of AF days reducing and drinking days increasing! Pissed off with myself. Did DJ without too much hardship but Feb is a different matter. I knew once I allowed myself to start drinking again it would creep up again. 50 days of 2025 gone,42 AF. All 8 drinking days in Feb so far.

Castlerigg · 19/02/2025 20:46

Love white chocolate and live crème eggs, but together they might be just too much.

Soooooo fed up of packing / moving. Opened a bottle of Prosecco tonight.

HollyGolightly4 · 19/02/2025 21:10

Any white chocolate fans can I recommend a white lion bar

Addictforanex · 19/02/2025 21:27

The toblerone I am eating piece by piece each night is a white one. Orgasmically good!

Addictforanex · 19/02/2025 22:08

@Hedjwitch sorry to hear you are struggling, but flipping the script you have had 10 AF days so far this month and you have been AF for more days that you have drank so far this month. And there’s lots of February still to go for your patterns to change if you want them to. Especially since you did DJ in full, no messing, you are definitely capable of it. Hang in there!

Buntyforgirls · 20/02/2025 09:21

Feeling back in control this week.
Feeling out of control sends anxiety spiralling, and I feel I am slipping further away from my goals, when in reality I can stop, draw breath and a line under it, and move on. K
I want to remember to celebrate the small wins.

Buntyforgirls · 20/02/2025 09:25

@Hedjwitch , I agree with @Addictforanex as I am experiencing similar this month, but, as above, I'm going to take time to feel good about what I have accomplished and keep going. Good luck, you are doing well!

TeaRose29 · 20/02/2025 11:14

I bought a bottle of the much-hyped Botivo (AF Aperitivo) and it arrived yesterday. TBH I'm pretty disappointed in it. It just seems to taste like cider vinegar. I much prefer both the Martini Floreale and Crodino, which is fantastically tasty and bitter. Oh well...😕

Hedjwitch · 20/02/2025 21:15

Thanks for the support. Have been AF today mainly because I was horribly sick this morning. Not the best way to do it but I'll take it.

FUBAR77 · 21/02/2025 07:55

I was doing so well, but we went away over the weekend and even though I didn’t even massively want to drink I still had a wine with lunch and then in the evenings, which has now added up to 45.6 units across this month so far.

I then just found myself on the App trying to work out how many units I have ‘left’ and caught the worry I felt as I’m trying to stay under the 14 units a week and 5 days dry a week.

Positives - Havent been drunk at all since DJ, which for me is a great progress, I used to drink to drunk or have nothing at all. I have so far not felt the ‘switch’ turn on which makes me drink the whole bottle - very proud of this but I know it’s a slippery slope if I’m now checking the app at 7am and bargaining with myself for the weekend, so the wine noise is still ever present drinking or not…

AlertCat · 21/02/2025 08:53

@FUBAR77 the wine noise is definitely quieter for me when I’m abstaining completely. So I’m not where I want to be, yet. I don’t want to have to go teetotal, I just want to be happy with the one bottle over a weekend (2-3 nights). Basically going back to where i was before covid.

CandyLeBonBon · 21/02/2025 11:34

Hi all. This whole journey has been really eye opening for me. So I had a relatively boozy week last week and as a result really noticed the (mostly negative) effects alcohol has on me. This week I've been happy to be AF. I like the mental clarity. If I'm honest it's the first glass that I like, but it's so easy to have a second. I no longer like feeling drunk though. I really don't like that 'out of control' feeling any more. I'm happy to have the odd glass here and there but don't want to get back into regular alcohol consumption any more. Sadly I think my relationship might suffer as a result. Confused

Buy a bottle of Angostura bitters and add a splash to lime and soda. It tastes far better than all these AF drinks in my experience and the key is it's not sweet.

newme2025 · 21/02/2025 22:41

I didn’t achieve my goal of Monday to Thursday dry, but did have Monday, Wednesday and today off. So not too bad. I might aim for 50% dry days this month (have had 10 so far, so need to do four more). Off to sleep now but will post more over the weekend.

newme2025 · 22/02/2025 09:37

I had the most glorious sleep last night after not drinking yesterday. Feeling refreshed.

WorriedMutha · 22/02/2025 12:34

Last year I did dry January more or less perfectly (one bottle bought in last week and drunk over a couple of nights). I successfully moderated for the rest of the year. This year I've done dj and stayed dry. I equivocated a bit to try and reach a decision that didn't feel forced. In all honesty, dry is easier than moderating. I'm on holiday at the moment so I waited to see how I would feel lounging in the sun and hotel dining. I've been very happy on the agua. The longer you stay dry the more normal it seems.

Eatinpeachesonthebeaches · 22/02/2025 13:53

An AF week apart from last night when I had a couple of glasses of Shiraz. Don't intend to drink any more this weekend . Most days in Feb have been AF . Am tempted to keep going as I am in March ie drinking on special occasions. I have dropped a bit of weight as clothes feel looser.

socks1107 · 22/02/2025 21:26

I've stayed ion 4 small glasses in the pub on one night a week, a few the other weekend night and nothing the other 5 nights.
It feels good! I feel in control and enjoy what I do have

ThePoshUns · 22/02/2025 22:02

Though tempted I've not had a drink this evening. I had a few glasses last night as went out for a meal with a friend. Feeling good

FUBAR77 · 23/02/2025 07:53

I fell off the wagon big time last night - have been so determined it hasn’t felt like a chore as I haven’t wanted anything - but all the wine noise got to me yesterday and for the first time since last year I drank to get drunk. Todays headache is deserved!

Being totally honest with myself I know I did it as ‘something for myself’ as all week/weekend everyone else has came first and this is has been my go to treat - I need a hobby!!!

ThePoshUns · 23/02/2025 11:35

Don't bet yourself up @FUBAR77
At least now you recognise your triggers .
I think this is where I struggle as a drink form me signifies the end of a working week. I really don't know how to make the weekend more relaxing/ different if I don't start with a glass of wine on a Friday.

Whatthefork20 · 23/02/2025 15:57

Can I join in.

With the exception of a week in January when I was really unwell I’ve probably drank every night since December…..and before.

Hoping this might be the thread to help me cut down dramatically.

Addictforanex · 23/02/2025 16:29

Welcome @Whatthefork20!

Addictforanex · 23/02/2025 16:31

I had a bit too much on Friday night and been a bit sluggish ever since. Cooking roast dinner now but won’t have any wine with it. Think I will try to stay AF for the rest of Feb.

Cattery · 23/02/2025 19:53

Sticking to my two nights a week only. Def Sat night and one other so 5 booze-free nights
