Best age to start swimming lessons?

I'd like DD (3.5) to start them, DH thinks it's too early so just thought I'd ask opinions!

We do take her swimming ourselves a lot and I'd say she is pretty confident with jumping in, hanging on to the side etc. She can kick her legs while holding onto a float/woggle.

DH is a strong swimmer and thinks he can teach her the safety basics himself. Me less so, so I'm keen that she can swim well.

DS went to Ducklings at 12 weeks and loved it. Was swimming independently by about 3. Always confident in the water and a fairly strong swimmer so I was surprised he wasn't over bothered when we had our own pool when we lived abroad. He's an adult now and only ever bothers to swim on holiday.
