Made to measure curtains

We are having curtains made to measure because we have a non-standard window. The curtain fitter tells us that we should have double-pinch pleat curtains whereas I would actually prefer pencil pleat. He says that pencil pleat requires more fabric. I had thought it was the other way on. I have looked online and some websites say that pencil pleat uses less fabric whereas other websites say that it is a similar amount to double-pinch pleat.

Can anyone tell me which is correct?

I agree that pencil pleat would use more fabric. I'll find a link.

If you hover over the fullness ratio here it gives suggested ratios. I've got high ceilings and most of my curtains have a 6" pencil pleat heading. I always go for maximum fullness ratio.

If you look at Brittania Rose and conjour up a curtain of your choice in pencil pleat heading you can select 'luxury' which is essentially as fuller a pencil pleat curtain as you can get.
