I live in a shared house/HMO, I’ve been here about a year now, earlier this month my letting agent sent an email to all housemates stating that from the end of this month inspections will take place on a monthly basis in not only the communal area but also our rooms & if we aren’t in then they will use their keys to gain access!
I have nothing to hide personally & usually inspections take place every 6mths that I’m ok with, but monthly is taking it too far, I don’t want someone coming into my room & perhaps even snooping around when I’m not here. According to the letting agent it’s in line with new council guidelines which I’ve requested but still not received, I’m trying to move but finding it difficult as I don’t earn very much & my credit rating isn’t great either.
Has anyone else come across this at all & perhaps advise me on what to do?! Thanks
