She has died at the age of 78. I confess the only song of hers I only know is Come And Stay With Me. She might have recorded Sister Morphine with the Rolling Stones.

I’ve had her on the last half hour. My favourites of hers are Gypsy Faerie Queen, Why’d Ya Do It, Tower of Song, the ballad of Lucy Jordan, Without Blame…I could go on and on. Just a fantastic voice, presence and attitude at all stages of her career.

I love The Ballad of Lucy Jordan.
At the age of thirty-seven
She realised she'd never
Ride through Paris in a sports car
With the warm wind in her hair

I liked Marianne. RIP

I've just been reading her biography on Wikipedia. Turbulent doesn't come close but she was a survivor to the end.

So sad to hear this - she is very much the music of my parent's generation and my mum did a good "As Tears Went By" when we were little.

Oh heck. I know she had been ill for a long time but she was one of my icons and has gone too soon imo. She lived such an incredible life, one of the first ever WAGs I suppose, but also a creative person in her own right who came through an illadvised lifestyle and built herself a cult following of creativity and innovative music.

RIP you beautiful woman. My tears are going by for you tonight.

She ran with the Stones at their creative peak and wrote Sister Morphine with them on one of the greatest albums in Rock and her influence on them is evident. Mick with her, Keith with Anita Pallenberg. There was the Mars bar story from the bust at Stargroves which was used to highlight the degenerate youth and the Stones. She was a template for Patti Smith and made some good records herself. Must have been hard in that boys club of Mick and Keith to be more than just another gf. Mick would marry Bianca after her in 1972.
