Courses/therapy in confidence, assertiveness or public speaking

Has anyone ever attended a course (or workshop or therapy – or whatever) to help them be more assertive? I don't know why I've never looked into this before, frankly. I'd really like something to help me with confrontation. I'd also like some kind of course in confidence, if such a thing even exists. I'm in Colchester/North Essex area.

Also, has anyone ever attended a course to help them with public speaking? It's a flippin nightmare for me. I recently had to do a one day First Aid course for work. It began with everyone having to stand up and say something about themselves. God, I hated it. I'm in my 40s now, yet I blushed and stammered like I did on my first day at sixth form in the 1990s! Uggghh.

I'd recommend a life or career coach - I'm training in these skills and working with practice clients to help with this ,
Which I've experience with from a career in comms

However, practice makes perfect - try recording yourself and playing back, or looking at great speakers online e.g Ted Talks

I will look into that, thanks. Ideally I'd like some kind of group therapy. I was wondering about placing an advert on MeetUp.com
