Why oh why do I always leave my tax return to the last minute 😭

Anyone else like me?

I'm stressed for you! Hopefully you have all your figures and you just need to enter them.

I've seen a few people sitting down to do their first ones and haven't even registered yet.

Or saved the money to pay.

I used to be late but always do it in April now, I couldn't cope with the stress.

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 11:50

@FrannyScraps unfortunately not Confused I need to go digging some bits out. I need to be like you and do it in April.

Mine went in in October and had a lovely rebate the next day! I used an accountant as I was a partner in a GP practice and they are quite complex. I did pride myself on getting my personal expenses in by the end of the first week in April so my halo was well and truly polished!

I'm now retired so much less complex now.

Done, paid and this year I have also set a future payment in the online banking for the payment on account amount in July as its a really busy time of year for us and I always forget.

And a reminder on the calendar so I don't get a shock when it does!

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 11:59

@Musicaltheatremum you are lovely and organised. Fab you got a rebate especially so quickly. I need to channel your skills Grin

I used to be like this before getting an accountant!

Best thing is to remind yourself the world doesn’t actually end if you file late. I believe you pay £100 and that buys you a three month extension.

I have an accountant, a good big name one, I'm still waiting on mine.... they had everything from me months ago yet here we are one day to go and I still don't have it...

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 12:26

@NewMe2024 I knew that you got a £100 penalty but didn't know it came with a 3 month extension. I might extend mine because I am getting in a flap!

@Scrowy that's a good idea about setting a reminder. Thank you.

Interest will be added to the amount owed too if the payment is late

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 12:28

@onwards2025 that's not great do you think it's because they are really busy?

Just sitting down to do mine now! It's a very straightforward one though, so never takes long. Not sure why I don't just get it out the way earlier!

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 13:05

@JBJ hope yours is done quickly. I am mad at myself for leaving it this late.

I'm done! Mine's very straightforward thankfully, but I kick myself every year for leaving it until the last minute. Hope you get done soon.

MidnightBloom · 30/01/2025 13:29

@JBJ well done 🥳

Will see how much I can get done today.
