Caravaning with a 4month old?

We have the opportunity for DH to take a month sabbatical from work. I think getting a caravan means we can do some UK travel with DS who will be 4months. If we like the caravan we can keep it for weekends and holidays and go to Europe etc. If not sell it. In my head it’s great as he’s not yet mobile. We’re all awake in the same room anyway. And packing to go away takes alot so if everything’s on hand already done there’s no worryi about how clean and suitable the place is etc. And means weekends away are more possible? We’ve done a few motorhome trips hiring in the past pre kids.

mid we start young he’ll think it’s great if it means weekends to the beach or hills or snow in winter? As we would go away in all weather if a site open and not gale force as the one we are looking at is suitable for wintering

Are we mad or go for it?

We’ve taken the children caravanning since DD was around 6 months old. We put a bed guard on the sofa and she used that as a bed. We also had an ikea antelop high chair and when the legs were removed, it was the perfect height to sit on the sofa and reach the table. Go for it!

I think it sounds great. It’s good to do things now while it’s still easy. Not in a caravan, but I did a bit of European travel when my youngest was a baby. He was very portable. I could still do nice restaurants and grown up museums and events.

My DD2 did the North Coast 500 ...with a roof top tent on their car and a 4 month old baby who was starting to roll Grin They had a blast, even with some seriously bad weather. A caravan has to be easier than that...go for it!
