Cost of a professional oven clean where you are

Hampshire.

Mine, single oven and hob top, (so not dual oven) used to be £40 7-8 years ago. It's now £100-120. I'm not sure it's worth it any more, unfortunately.

What are you paying?

Anyone baulking at the price needs to remember how much NMW has gone up over the last few years, probably around 30%.

Therefore anyone working for themselves will need to be making above NMW for the hours they work, otherwise why bother, especially as they don't get paid leave, employer pension contributions and pay their own travel and equipment costs.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 28/01/2025 18:06

£110 for bottom oven and I pay it gladly. I do not want to be cleaning an oven.

stressedtothemaxdotcom · 28/01/2025 18:07

The box of stuff they sell in Home bargains like a cheap over pride is marvellous
Leave it overnight and there's no effort required. It's about £2

I don’t begrudge paying it and would happily pay £120 (mine was £70), but it took him less than an hour.

Starlightstarbright4 · 28/01/2025 18:10

East Midlands . Mine is booked oven seperate grill and Airfryer. Will be £75 in total .

Titasaducksarse · 28/01/2025 18:11

South Wales coastal.
Double oven £60.
My annual treat!

weegiemum · 28/01/2025 18:12

Got mine don't just before Christmas.

Triple oven and 5 ring gas hob plus extractor was £100. I was totally fine with that as there was no way I was doing it myself!!

weegiemum · 28/01/2025 18:12

This was Glasgow

daisychain01 · 28/01/2025 18:14

I can't imagine letting your hob getting so scummy you need to get the professionals in to de-scuzz it 🤔

posted with a heavy dose of MN superiority. I'll avoid adding an eye-roll emoji...

daisychain01 · 28/01/2025 18:17

Our's costs between £50-£65 which is very very worth it!

I can't stand cleaning the oven, in fact I would gladly do 3 large baskets of ironing or wash the kitchen floor 10 times rather than that awful job. But that's just me probably

They do it soooooo much better than me Grin

BurntBroccoli · 28/01/2025 19:28

I've never had my done professionally. Do they take the door apart so the glass gets cleaned on the inside?

Yes they do. It takes ages. And I have since found that doing it myself is pretty easy.

The guy who did mine took less than an hour last week. It looks like new.

24Dogcuddler · 28/01/2025 19:34

£60 single oven here. Literally like new once done. Yes he cleans inbetween the glass panels.
Top one still like new as I can’t reach it 😂
North West England

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 28/01/2025 19:35

Oh, I understand what is contributing to these price rises, it's just that everyone has 'their price' for anything, and £120 exceeds mine!

Buy a steam cleaner and do it yourself. You can buy ones that work fine for as little as 30.quid.

About a fiver, pack of Oven Brite stuff, leave on overnight and boom. I can't imagine letting your hob getting so scummy you need to get the professionals in to de-scuzz it 🤔

Maybe DIY then spend the money you've not spent on a lovely treat?

My hob is clean, I just hate doing the oven
It's the one thing I find worth paying for, given it's £40 if I don't have the hob done
He turns up, doesn't use anything strong and leaves with a faint smell of vinegar, oven ready to use

Pelot · 28/01/2025 20:48

£150 for two ovens and a microwave.

Essex England double oven £80

Fordian · 28/01/2025 10:35

I sort of do the maths. How much time and effort would it take me to do a job that I'm capable of versus paying someone to come in and do it? I feel £120 is pushing it a bit.

Oven pride is meant to be really good for ovens but it's one of them chores that I honestly hate doing! 🤣

imtryingtoleave · 29/01/2025 01:10

do they do the metal racks in the oven?

Bjorkdidit · 29/01/2025 02:12

Everything. When we had ours done she took them outside, not sure what she did with them but I think big soaking tanks were involved.

I was amused that MIL turned up unexpectedly when she was just finishing up, which is something that a lot of people would cringe at but in my case I didn't care that she knew we paid to have the oven cleaned.

She didn't say anything but was probably secretly jealous but felt that was somewhere couldn't do having being brought up by her own DM who was of the generation where you were judged by the whiteness of the washing you hung out or if a week passed where you didn't scrub your front step.
