I'm off sick with this horrible winter flu & can't get interested in anything

Love Greys, ER, 911, Chicago Med/Fire, SVU etc

Have tried Chicago PD, The West Wing & Madam Secretary and none have grabbed me. Should I persevere.

Any other hidden gems I might still not have discovered

I'm enjoying parenthood on Netflix. Low key family drama type. Not taxing but a good watch.

Ilovelowry · 28/01/2025 09:44

Recently we've watched baby reindeer which is superb, finally finished Ozark which is amazing. Also the SAS rogue heroes programme on the BBC is fab.

The Resident is OK until about season 2 then it is dreadful.

Also Day of the Jackal was brill and Black Doves. And Slow Horses.

JessicafelloffTheKnappett · 28/01/2025 09:51

If you don't like West Wing there's nothing I can do for you, it's the best show ever! 😲

... I'd suggest trying Good Place on Netflix, it's funny, light hearted and very enjoyable!
Slow Horses on Apple is excellent - but there's not very many of them (3 series of 6 episodes... I think).
Also Happy Valley is amazing! Sarah Lancashire is seriously the best!

@JessicafelloffTheKnappett See I've heard so many good things about WW. Maybe I need to give it a bit longer. I'll try another couple of episodes 😁

Mad men!

Tillow4ever · 28/01/2025 09:59

We have very similar taste. These are my other favourite shows:

Lucifer
Buffy the vampire slayer (series not film)
Angel
Criminal Minds
Station 19 (Grey's spin off)
House
Person of Interest
FBI
FBI Most Wanted
You
Dexter

I'm slowly working through all of my old favourites with my kids!

Tillow4ever · 28/01/2025 10:00

Also, have you seen the promo for the next episode of Grey's when it returns after the mid season break? It looks epic!

Redglitter · 28/01/2025 10:05

@Tillow4ever it looks great. The break it's had is ridiculously long.

Freaks and Geeks!! Can’t believe I didn’t know about it until recently! Only 1 season but soooo good and so many known actors

Buddycav · 28/01/2025 10:14

I can throughly recommend watching Snowpiercer on Netflix.

CrewOfTheRevenge · 28/01/2025 10:16

Our Flag Means Death on iplayer. Easy watch, great cast, two seasons but leaves you wanting more.

QuestionableMouse · 28/01/2025 10:28

Leverage & Leverage Redemption
Justified

Murderbot Diaries if you're open to audiobooks

Feel better soon! ☺️

BigDahliaFan · 28/01/2025 10:29

The Diplomat on Netflix - it's tosh but very entertaining.

The Night Manager - quite exciting.

Mittens67 · 28/01/2025 10:45

The Shield. Absolutely gripping and shocking. I would put it on a par with The Sopranos, also excellent if you haven’t watched that.
For something non crime related This is Us. Family drama/ saga which is surprising and insightful.

Enjoying Ozark but really it’s just a rip off of breaking bad and better call Saul.
i enjoyed first series of rogue heroes but this second is dreadful!

Ilovelowry · 28/01/2025 11:16

We LOVED season two of rogue heroes. Obsessed for a whole weekend. I'd like to marry paddy mayne (or you know, something...)

I haven't seen BB or BCS so can't comment. My DH has seen them and loved Ozark. Loved the characters.

RaininSummer · 28/01/2025 11:23

I have been stuck to the sofa with flu this week and binged American Primeval. Violent but gripping.

dontforgetme · 28/01/2025 11:27

@RaininSummer I came on to say American Primeval too. Very violent but my god I was hooked. Really really good.

Flavatama · 28/01/2025 11:30

Rescue me, if you can find it, think it might be on prime.

Rainbow450 · 28/01/2025 11:31

Private practice or new Amsterdam are good medical dramas the first is a spin off from greys.

Suits for legal drama if you haven't seen it.

roibustea · 28/01/2025 11:43

Just started Sopranos as everyone still bangs on about it so much! Plan on watching Succession next.

Bobbieiris · 28/01/2025 11:44

Mindhunter on Netflix is really good….its a crime drama based loosely on real events in the 70s and how the FBI started to use psychology to profile serial killers. I also recently watched fool me once on Netflix and loved that too. I’ve just started to watch mad men which is great but quite slow so not the best if you want something gripping. If you have Disney then Rivals is great! If you have prime there’s a new Alex cross series (don’t know if you know the books)….i think it’s just called cross. Reacher on prime is quite too. I also enjoyed blue lights on iplayer (a police drama) . I’m thinking of watching Astrid on all4 ad ive heard that’s good, so I’ll let you know what I think….im on maternity leave at the moment so watching a lot of TV!

AnchorWHAT · 28/01/2025 12:53

Cross is great, very gripping. Also just finished ginny and gina which is a bit teen angsty but fun

HeronWing · 28/01/2025 12:56

I was ill a few weeks back and watched all of The Split with enjoyment.

onitlikeacarbonnet · 28/01/2025 13:09

True detective (disturbing first season but all 4 seasons excellent)
bloodlines (American family drama with Kyle Chandler not the James Nesbit thing on iplayer)
fringe (Joshua Jackson less alien more supernatural X files rip off but entertaining in its own right)
kin (Irish crime family thing. Really good)

Also agree you should persevere with the west wing as it’s up there with the sopranos and the wire as my top 2-4 ever ever ever. Twin Peaks no.1 never to be beaten.
