My daughter's renewal was 12 days.

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/01/2025 10:14

I applied for my child’s first one on 14 Jan, it arrived on 22 Jan.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 26/01/2025 10:15

You'll be more than fine for April.

mitogoshigg · 26/01/2025 10:18

I've had mine back within 2-3 weeks on every occasion I've renewed one, typically supporting documents including the cancelled old passport arrive the day before the new one.

You don't get the processing text until they open the envelope which typically is a few days after they receive it. Officially renewals are taking 2-3 weeks currently and first passports twice that or longer as you need an appointment and depends how flexible you are

MissAmbrosia · 26/01/2025 10:20

My dd's took 1 week and we live abroad.

cherrycherryblossom · 26/01/2025 10:21

I’ve to renew mine as well. If I do it online with a new photo, do I need to go through the whole palaver of a professional verifying it? Or is it quite straightforward.

Mylovey · 26/01/2025 10:25

I sent had a passport since I was 16 so was a child at the time is it still a renewal as I've had a passport before that what i on the form along with my old passport marriage certificate birth certificate headed letter 2 photos 1 countersigniture

I applied on Thursday and was told online it would be within 3 weeks. you will be fine for April.

MangoAndMelon · 26/01/2025 10:31

You were already told as you sent it on Tue, it will be fine. You haven't heard for 5 days because 2 of them are a weekend. Everyone told you at least on 2 other threads it takes usually under 3 weeks and you will hear next week.
Asking every day will not magical make HO hurry it up.

DairyLeanne · 26/01/2025 10:33

It's about two weeks turnaround. You should be fine. There certainly isn't the months backlog as there was a few years back.

You will need a countersigniture that's why I opted for the paper application it easier for countersigniture and you send documents off same time

You don’t need a signature to verify a new photo for an adult renewal, if you do it online you send in the new photo and your old passport and that is enough (I’m in the process with mine - took 5 working days from doing the application to getting it approved, it’s at the printing stage now)

Thank you. Silly question but the photo has to be physically sent to them even if doing it online? I think you can use your driving licence photo for passport (or other way round) but my photo is quite dated looking.

Sorry I worded it badly - when I said ‘send in the new photo’ I meant submit it online! I just took a selfie on my phone and submitted that and it was accepted

ChaosDream · 30/01/2025 13:58

Hiya I just renewed my passport, the whole process took 10 days from submitting the application to receiving my new one. Hope this helps
