Chess tips?

Anyone ok at chess? I'm trying to learn and am making a little progress on chess apps at intermediate level but keep progressing the game to stalemate against the opponent, I seem to struggle to get it into checkmate, any suggestions please. I'm not really up on known moves or strategies, am just playing intuitively.

Which apps are you using?

Download lichess (or access it online) and start solving puzzles like a maniac.
Also have a look to all the learning material they have in there.

Thanks, I've been using Chesskid kids app (blush) as I needed to relearn the basics at a very simple level.

My boys were really into chess a few years ago. They learnt a few set openings and it really improved their game. They always beat me. I can't play well.
