Has anyone got experience of the York Layerthorpe Travelodge or Premier Inn?

We're not sure which to choose and wondering about parking, food and location.

Premier Inn is always nicer than Travelodge and the PI breakfast is legendary.

Neither but I stayed at the holiday in which was cheaper than the premier inn on that day, then had free parking and bigger rooms as standard, 10 mins longer walk

@Sherrystrull we stayed at the Premier Inn in December. Found the location good, around 10-15 minute walk right in to centre of York. We attended a concert at The Barbican which was a similar walk in the opposite direction. We only ate breakfast but it was absolutely fine, items replenished. We did stay midweek so not sure about weekend experience.
There were several supermarkets about 5 minutes away if drinks or snacks needed. I can't comment on car parking as we went by train. The hotel does have a car park but it's not big.
I know reviews on Tripadvisor weren't great but we had a good experience and would return.

Have stayed at Travelodge Monks Cross which isn't one of your options, but found it to be clean and comfortable with an easy park and ride trip into the centre.
