Can you have a dehumidifier on in the room you are always in?

Dc works from home and shares with other students. He only has his bedroom. If he used a dehumidifier to dry washing, could it be on whilst hes in the room a day?
I know this might sound daft, but would it make the room very stuffy for him?

It will be fine, it will take the moisture out of the air and if he finds it does get stuffy he can just open a window. Some dehumidifiers can be noisy though.

I WFH next to a Meaco Arete Two, which turns on and off according to its humidistat.

It was reasonably expensive, but it's much quieter than my older model from Meaco, and they make a special thing of how quiet it is on their website. It also come with a 5 year guarantee.

I sound like a salesperson, but I'm not 😄 - I just love them after my precious experience with an Ebac one.

Oh, you asked about stuffiness - I think it's the opposite, the Arete 2 is also an air purifier if you use the specific filter it comes with at the same time.

Meaco old one - white and Green one on their website, good but a bit louder

Ebac old one - not sure, but one was recalled at one point, and one leaked.

I also have a Lakeland heated airer downstairs - you can set it up to take up half the amount of space by only using half of the arms, and then use the dehumidifier on laundry mode at the same time.

I think this would be a really good set-up in a student room.

Ah, okay. He probably should just try it and see if it bother him then. Sometimes I turn mine off if I have a meeting. Or sometimes I might put in noise cancelling earphones. Mostly, it doesn't bother me though.

I don't think there's much difference between the Arete One and Two, I didn't look into it in a huge amount of detail when I bought mine though.

I have this one https://www.electriq.co.uk/p/cd25pro-le/electriq-25-litre-low-energy-wifi-smart-dehumidifier-with-true-hepa-and-uv-air-purifier it stands in the hall and keeps the entire house at 50% humidity when the outdoor humidity has been over 90 for weeks.

It has a HEPA filter to catch allergens and dust, an ioniser, and an ultra violet light that kills bacteria and virus. The air that comes out is very clean and fresh.

I originally bought it to dry laundry but when I got a smart thermometer it kept warning me that the humidity was too high, so I rolled it into the hall and only switch it off when I go to bed at night. At first I had to empty the 4 litre reservoir once or twice a day, but now that all the damp has been sucked out of the curtains and soft furnishings it can go for days without needing to be emptied.
