Yesterday eve,all my account is frozen. Can't access no funds, make any payments. Called them multiple times, account under review. I fully respect that, but what people do meanwhile? All bills , etc cant be paid, nothing. Is something had same issue ever?
Please advice. Thanks

All can go in obviously, as also my salary, but I will not be able to access it.

I've had this. Most likely they think a suspicious transaction has been attempted on your account so they have frozen it. In my case it was a totally legitimate transaction and I am not sure why it triggered an alarm.

I had to go into the branch with photo ID to sort it out. It was a massive pain in the arse as I had a time sensitive payment to make for something else when this happened to me.

I had this. It was really irritating and over-zealous on their part and like pp I had to go into branch with id.

Roserose777 · 26/01/2025 22:43

Have non requirements, just need wait for review complete. But its outrageous, end of month.
Started Friday evening....
No understanding why , its nerves wracking indeed. No timescales, how long?
Feel Depressed 😔

"Go into a branch" is easier said than done, when so many have closed and others are open about 3 hours a week

X72 · 27/01/2025 01:06

The branch won't say anything. If its a suspicious activity it will be dealt with in a central office and they cannot say anything to anyone outside the team - not even the CEO. Could be months before you hear. Could be tomorrow. It is out of your control. Better to have 2-3 accounts because the banks are freezing teenagers accounts these days thinking granny's present, part time earnings or even selling some household items at a car boot is 'county lines'. They are getting ridiculous.

3 weeks is ridiculous. Have you called and asked to escalate? I would tell them that you are in extreme hardship and have no access to any funds. And when it is resolved I would be transferring my business elsewhere. I'd also use every means possible to contact them and speak to someone senior.

UbiquitousObjects · 13/02/2025 20:54

Open a new account elsewhere and give your new bank details to your employer.

Something has triggered the bank to suspect fraud, money laundering or other criminal activity. It could be anything. A single suspicious transaction. A certain pattern of transactions over time. Credit turnover drastically mismatching your stated employment or salary. A report from another bank, from someone who's sent you money and reported it as fraud. Clear business activity on a personal account. 100's of possibilities.

What other people tell you about how long they were locked out is irrelevant. There is no agreed timescale for such reviews.

It could take 3 days or 9 months before they either reactivate your account or give you 60 days notice that they no longer want your business and send you a cheque for your balance.

Bubblegumtatoos · 13/02/2025 20:57

More than 1 bank account numerous credit cards. Cash reserve in the house.

Not helpful now but in the future put this into action.

Normallynumb · 14/02/2025 00:10

3 weeks!!
I'd seriously look into opening a new bank account( if it's possible whilst another account is under investigation) elsewhere with a switch bonus

Roserose777 · 14/02/2025 00:19

They just say wait and appoligies for all inconvenience... I dont understand when it will finish. No phone call, no post,no emails, nothing. To be precise, tomorrow 3 weeks....
Just cant cope nomore...
