Chatsworth in Winter - worth?

Hi all,
DH and I are due to go away for two nights on Valentines. We are going to Bakewell and wanted to go to Chatsworth but I've now seen the house and gardens are closed at this time of year. He now wants to cancel Bakewell and go somewhere else but I'm not sure. Is Chatsworth still worth it? Can anyone recommend other things around the Bakewell area?
Tia

Bakewell is a lovely little town. I enjoy just pottering around the shops and grabbing a coffee. If you enjoy walking, Chatsworth is well worth a visit. The grounds are extensive and beautiful. Their farm shop will be open and the coffee shop. I would definitely still go.

Thank you @Mooosewoman i really appreciate that. I'm happy just traipsing the grounds (making dh pretend to be Mr Darcy) and I'm glad there are things open there. I will convince him they need to go!

We didn't think much of Bakewell at all.

Why?

Free parking while it’s closed and there are nice walks you can do from there.

the monsal trail is a nice walk from Bakewell. The old station at Hassop (?) is a great cafe and gift/book shop.

You could also go and visit Eyam, the plague village. Also Castleton and go down a cave.

@SnarkSideOfLife thank you for reminding me the name of that old station on the monsal trail! We actually went a few years ago and got engaged while strolling down the trail and I think that's the exact place! We wanted to go back to it this time. We've also got a couple of nights at a reasonable price in a place called Bagshaw Hall which looks really nice.

Thornbridge and Haddon Hall might be worth a punt. Thornbridge brewery which is next to Aldi in Bakewell is a family favourite.

Any brewery is a welcome idea, thanks!

Thornbridge is great: beer flights and excellent pizzas.
