How’s Your Friday Shaping Up?

Anyone up to much? Had a lovely trip out with DD16 - she’s hardly left the house lately so it was really nice to spend some time with her. We had a real laugh. I’m now the proud owner of a whole new set of make up plus brushes & posh cosmetic bag & DD is going to help me create some looks. I haven’t worn make up since the pandemic. After we got home, I popped to the chemist & Tescos. Nearly fell over when I saw the price of a family bag of mini eggs - £4.95!! Still bought them though & they won’t be saved for Easter! I’ve put our bedding on a hot wash as I choked on my cuppa this morning & spat tea out all over the duvet! The dishwasher is on & spuds peeled for tea which is bangers, double cream mash & baked beans (yummy). Watching Emmerdale & Corrie later. Might tidy out some of the storage cubes in the lounge at the same time.

Ah that sounds like a lovely day OP. It's great when you have a good time with your child isnt it?! Enjoy the make up session later!

Im off out with "the gals" soon. I'm the designated driver (again!). Just hope my car doesn't make TOO many unauthorised noises tonight!

shoofly · 24/01/2025 18:07

That sounds lovely. Have been up since 4am with the storm. We're in Northern Ireland and had red alert from 7am til 2pm
Thought the house was going to blow away! Baked this morning ( I volunteer for repair cafe which was supposed to be on tomorrow, but it's been cancelled) kids home from school and uni today and husband working from home.
We've lost a couple of ridgetiles and the back fence but thankfully still have power and Internet. Hoping for a more peaceful night tonight!

Childminder here- had a lovely little one in for a settling in session then had the rest of the day off! Very rare! Drank tea, ate a chocolate orange. Crocheted a cushion cover have just eaten a lovely Thai green curry prepared by my lovely husband, and am.looking forward to besties coming round for alcoholic beverages and loud, silly games!

I've had a quiet work day so managed to fit in some strength training and run! Just doing the early evening running about taking kids to and from their church groups. Once back DH and I are having burgers, bottle of fizz for me and traitors! Very excited.

I've just got back from a 2 hour round trip to pick ds1 up from the station- he's home from uni for the week (feels like he only just went back after Christmas)

Debating whether I want a drink or not (I do, but nothing that we have in the house) and ds2 and his gf are making enchiladas. The fire's lit and I'm not moving far off the sofa for the rest of the night.

I had my eyebrows and eyelashes done this morning and I was all ready to go out but my plans fell through so I’m feeling a bit deflated.

Fridays I don't officially work.

Had a bit of a packed day - was up at 7 to make a travel coffee for partner (nice like that) then youngest son had driving test at 9am (he passed!) then cat to vet for 11am - he's got some kind of skin infection.

Aldi shop (left cat in the car !) then home to clean downstairs, hoover and wash kitchen floor.

Out to walk the dogs for 5k

Then. ... took the oldest dog with me to go drop some Vinted parcels at Spar up the road - put him in the car, walked round to the drivers door and the car locked itself! I'd thrown the keys in!! It took the AA 7 minutes to arrive and unlock the door!!

Delivered parcels, picked one up then made tea - chicken and leeks. Hour of work.

Now relaxing to with wine.

Bloody lovely thanks, had a couple of days leave and dh and I have been away. Woke up in a sleepy Cotswolds village, had a stroll and breakfast followed by a pub lunch and drove home.
dc had kept the house lovely and tidy and got some logs in from outside so the fire was roaring, candles were lit and we are now waiting for the traitors final.

TaffyTuck · 24/01/2025 19:05

Awful
My life’s a mess

Tooty78 · 24/01/2025 19:05

I washed bedding and towels and hung them outside to dry (I'm in South Yorkshire). True, it was a tad breezy and I did expect to have to fetch the washing from the next village on, but the storm pegs did their job.

An outdoor drying day in January is a win!

Feeling pretty miserable for myself. On sick leave because I slipped on the ice on Wednesday and fell on my back, hurting myself quite. Nothing broken (got x-rays done) thankfully but hurts bad enough to need tramadol which makes me out of it and useless so I can't go to work or do anything except sit with my feet up on the sofa and watch tv and I get so bored of that quickly.

RabbitsRock · 24/01/2025 19:24

TaffyTuck so sorry to hear that 😢

Not bad. Dog at daycare so had the house to myself today. I did some yoga to help my bad back, met a friend for coffee, then baked a cake.
Now dh is making chicken fajitas, and has opened a bottle of fizz - hooray!

BlackSheepThisYear · 24/01/2025 19:45

Crap finish to a crap week - was in a comical slow motion car crash with another car that failed to stop at a junction. Mine will very likely be written off Sad

HansHolbein · 24/01/2025 19:47

Glad you had a lovey time with your daughter. I can’t believe how expensive mini eggs are! But they are delicious so it has to be done Grin

Nothing much happening here. Just had a boiling bath and look like a lobster. Had my flu jab this morning and feel a bit shit now.

RabbitsRock · 24/01/2025 23:10

BlackSheepThisYear hope you’re ok. Look out for delayed shock 💐💐💐
