Lost pet - any advice?

This isn’t directly happening to me, but I was wondering if anyone who has been through similar has any advice. My neighbour’s cat has gone missing after they let him out in the garden. It’s been a few days with no sign.

To complicate things, it’s storm weather with extreme wind and on/off heavy rain… and the cat already had an injured paw so they are very worried about the worst happening.

We had a look in our gardens and they have posted on social media but no luck. My neighbours have left a couple of his things outside for the scent. I just feel awful that this poor sweet animal, who was already not well, could be in a really bad state and needing help. I know nothing about cats so not sure what may lure them back or what would be helpful.

Flyers in surrounding streets. Post again on SM each week. Cats aren't always distinctive and people don't assume they're lost so note anything distinguishing like the sore paw.

Where we are the Nextdoor app is full of lost and found pets.

Go round knocking on doors and ask people to check their sheds and garages.

Cats are bastards who know the exactly how much time to disapper for to cause maximum stress to their servants.

Mr Tiddles ocassionally goes walkabout for a week or two, while I have a breakdown.

Thanks everyone. There has been no updates today sadly.

I’m hoping someone has taken him inside and he isn’t struggling outside.

I don’t think the nextdoor app is used around us, but I’ll suggest it too.

Have you/neighbours rang round the local vets and rescue centres?

I'm just thinking with the injured paw, someone may have taken them there or they may have rang them for advice.

They might offer some further advice to help as well.

Thank you, I know the cat is chipped so I assume someone would contact if they took him to a vet
