Ribble Valley - Old homes?

Tell me about buying a house in the Ribble Valley please. I’m looking to move back (I have family in Lancs) but can’t seem to find any nice character properties

Clitheroe has such nice old buildings but there’s not a single nice old house for sale for under £500k. I’ve looked at Whalley, Sabden etc and still so few houses with good bones. Lots of new builds but I was expecting at least a couple of cute character properties to fall in love with

Is there a scarcity issue? Am I just having bad luck with timing, no one selling? Or is it a reflection of the area now… does anyone live there who can comment, has it lost all its character? How is it to walk through, just lots of modern houses? Are there specific villages I need to look at?

I’ve looked at places like Holmfirth (it’s too far from family, sadly) and there are so many lovely character properties between £250-450k

any insights would be helpful! Hoping to visit soon but worried I’m missing something like a local estate agents haha

What's your budget?

There is a lot of new development all across the Ribble Valley, and a lot of the older properties are either very big and cost a lot, or are small terraces.

It’s an area like any other but being in or near the forest of bowland it’s quite desirable and therefore can be quite expensive. Stating the obvious it depends on your budget and what you are looking for.

Thanks :) Budget is up to £450k and at least 3 bed with a big garden. I’m open minded on the exact area still
