I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner

For those who weren't born or don't remember and those that do, it's an incredible forty years since this song reached Number 1 in the UK. A bit of a classic really. I'm not at all keen on power ballads by and large but IWTKWLI really hits home.

I also like Feel Like Makin' Love by Bad Company and All I Need by Beth Nielsen Chapman.

Any other power ballad favourites?

Mine heartbreak song was Always by Bon Jovi.

I used to sit and sob my heart out to it because Kenny C betrayed me to that song with Angela, who was, scandalously, in the year above 🤣 oh the drama.

My break up song was Here I Go Again On My Own" by Whitesnake

(yes, D, I know you lied both about me and to me)

renthead · 21/01/2025 20:58

My favourite slightly forgotten/obscure/niche power ballad is You're the Inspiration by Chicago.

I don’t often listen to Black Velvet by Alannah Myles on the big old fashioned 1970s floor speakers stereo system in the living room…
but when I do, so do the other people in my postcode 😁

Didntstop · 21/01/2025 21:10
