Does anyone have a ring outdoor security camera?

And is it any good? We have a ring doorbell but would like to add a security camera since the footage on the doorbell is only really any good if the motion is up close and even then it's not great. It wouldn't capture a car reg for example

If you have one do you have the floodlit version and does this make a difference to the picture quality.

Series of burglaries in the area so Im feeling a bit vulnerable.

Yes have both types, the floodlight one over the garage and the normal one covering the back garden.

Both are great, the floodlight one has the advantage of being able to put on a siren and light at the touch of a button.
Picture quality on both is great.

We have ours linked to our Alexas so they alert us if motion is detected.

Wouldn't be without them now.

I don't have a ring doorbell but have a Myannke camera, I was recommended to have CCTV installed by the Police after some twits donkey kicked my door over a few nights damaging it as a deterrent. It has night vision but I also have a motion light separately. The camera allows you to talk through it which is useful for deliveries but doesn't phone alert you like a Ring Doorbell. I just have an old tablet linked to the app all the time as I can't see my front door from indoors as it's around the side of the building.

You have to be careful to only record on your property, you can't film the road or pavement as you fall into GDPR issues and people can request to view it, Subject Access Requests etc

Not the point of the thread but I read that as "some twit's donkey, kicked my door"

I was wondering how CCTV was managing to deter the donkey 😂

Clearly I need more coffee..

Thank you thats helpful. We have the full ring subscription anyway so as long as the cameras work this is a cost effective way to do it.

For those with the ring cameras are they the battery version or hardwired? Im wondering whether we might be constantly having to charge the battery (we wouldn't;t be able to hardwire due to the location where we need to use them
