HELP before I cut my foot off

jhar · 20/01/2025 20:43

Can anyone please help my foot. 🦶

The last three nights I have had the most horrible restless foot. Tingling, jumping, tickling.

I used to get this in my legs when pregnant.

Period due later in week and I'm 42 so not likely.

That aside I've not slept for days.

I'm nowhere near bed and my foot is driving me up the wall.

I fell asleep at 4am with five big socks on.

Why is it happening and what can fix it

Please. 🙏 thank you 🙏

I have just cured my restless legs that I have had since my second pregnancy 18 months ago. I take a mix of magnesium, iron and copper and zinc supplements. Also lots of water. I have heard eating a banana before bed can help too. It’s really awful, I feel for you. The better you magnesium spray is really helpful.

TwoShades1 · 20/01/2025 20:56

I would try things like icing or a hot water bottle to see if a temperature change alleviates the sensations at all. Maybe try taking some pain relief too. You could also try massaging the foot and doing some stretching exercises for the feet and legs.

Banana before bed....

jhar · 20/01/2025 21:01

Ok, I'm on with banana.

Yes last night I was going crackers and up and down to shower and bath. It's just so strange

Where has it come from.

It could to be due to low estrogen. Not a common symptom but it is one I get. If it is it will clear up once your period is done.

Sonolanona · 20/01/2025 21:43

Magnesium seems to help some people although there are no clinical studies proving it.
I'm on gabapentin because mine progressed to full myoclonic jerks and severe sleep deprivation...it helps a bit but I have many nights with near zero sleep . Mine is left sided only..weird. You have my sympathy, it's bloody awful.
I'm almost post menopause and no sign of it decreasing.

Latenightreader · 20/01/2025 21:45

I find wrapping my feet in a cold flannel or small towel helps in the short term. Long term, potassium or magnesium rich food!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 20/01/2025 21:47

If I’m stressed I sometimes get dishydrotic excema (pompholyx) on my feet. The giveaway is crazy itching on my toes before the blisters appear.

ChilwellNotts · 20/01/2025 22:01

Epsom salt bath fastest way to absorb magnesium

1AnotherOne · 20/01/2025 22:09

I get restless arms sometimes (weird but feels the same as restless legs)

I take a magnesium tablet which sorts it out

CurbsideProphet · 20/01/2025 22:11

I developed restless legs after PPH 2.5 years ago. Iron transfusions sent it packing, but it's gradually come back. I use a magnesium rich balm from Sweet Bee Organics.

I'm also hoping to have my iron levels checked as I'm sure it's a trigger for me.

MissyB1 · 20/01/2025 22:12

It is thought to be linked to low iron, try talk g magnesium and Iron.

greengreyblue · 20/01/2025 22:13

DD had it after a nasty cold virus. Magnesium helped but I think it may have just gone on its own.

viking11 · 20/01/2025 22:14

Do you have diabetes?

MissMoan · 20/01/2025 22:15

I suspect you need some electrolytes. Good luck, OP

Moier · 20/01/2025 22:16

Magnesium Taurate.
Not the other Magnesium ( oxide etc) Taurate. My GP advised it.

jhar · 21/01/2025 07:51

I wonder if it's peri menopause

Not diabetic.

Have ordered magnesium.

Last night I wore seven socks. That did seem to ease it a little. Or maybe I'm going mad.
