Anxiety and hormones

I’m nearly 40 and have been having horrendous anxiety since a few months back. Anti depressants have helped a bit and I’ve had some calm periods, but I’m getting awful physical anxiety symptoms regularly, like I’m in a fight or flight mode.

I was thinking i might book a private GP appointment and ask for blood tests but I’m not sure what I should be asking for? I thought maybe hormones could be playing a part. I have no physical symptoms of peri menopause though.

Can anyone help?

Blood tests don't help much with perimenopause - it's usually symptoms. Have you really got no other symptoms - maybe worth reading the NICE guidelines and seeing? But otherwise it's probably back to GP to see what else can help. It could well be hormones or it could be something else.
