Do you worry about how your kids look?

My daughter is 3.5 and always chooses her own outfits which usually results in some odd choices, but I don't really worry about it (as I'm no fashionista myself 😂)

I'm lucky if I can persuade her to let me brush her hair let alone do anything fancy with it.

Was speaking to a newish friend today who told me they don't like their child wearing certain colours, so they spend quite a bit on outfits for them. They also have designated clothes for 'play'. E.g they wouldn't let them go to Grandma's or out for lunch in those clothes, or something mismatched or mucky.

Just wondering people's thoughts really as I'm bored on a Sunday night and want to know if I'm being secretly judged for not minding how my kid is turned out😂

Mine are teenagers now and I still love buying them lovely items and fragrance etc. One is really into fitness and haircare etc and fairly image conscious and the other could not give two hoots about what they wear and frequently has to be called back in to be told something needs ironing or clothes don’t match etc. They all have their own personalities at the end of the day. I never really stressed about matching outfits or designer stuff when all mine were little. I wasn’t bothered about character outfits and my ds was never into football anyway. As long as they were clean and tidy and appropriately dressed for the weather or we went to parties etc.

ive never really interfered with their styles apart from once or twice when dd1 wanted to go out dressed in a short black skirt and leopard skin top in the middle of winter to go to the local shop. She was 11! That was a no 😂.

3 of them are adults now and the youngest did 15, all of them have their own styles and clothing preferences and my older 2 have never followed trends, my ds 26 dresses like a hill walker all the time and dd1 23 after going through years of looking like she got her clothes from a clothing or fancy dress bin now has her own unique style and she looks lovely.

the 18 year old dd2 is very much a trend follower and I have to really bite my tongue over some of quite revealing outfits, but she’s an adult now.

dd3 15 is a bit more sporty and doesn’t care as much what outfits she wears as long as it matches, feels nice.
