Reverse SAD

Does anyone suffer from RSAD? I think I do. I can't explain how it feels, but when spring & the light comes back I have this sense of dread, I know I'm going to be feeling not quite right until late October.
I hate waking up to a sunny hot day, going/coming home work when it's light outside. I prefer it dark, cold and wet.

I hate the noise of Spring/summer, like gardening, people in their gardens. If I could I'd hibernate til Autumn.

Yes! There have been threads about this before. It seems to start getting light so quickly.

I do too. Brightness and heat make me feel trapped.

ChristmasPudd1990 · 19/01/2025 13:32

Yes!! For years I've wondered if I have this. I absolutely love it when the clocks go back. When it's sunny in the evenings or sunny in general,I feel pressure to be out doing things. Because of my meds, which make me sun sensitive, and fair skin,I hate feeling hot 😔

Yes, me! I love the winter 😄

It's not reverse though is it? SAD is SAD - the particular season which you are affected by doesn't matter.

While true, if the distinction is not made, people will assume that it's winter that gets you down and not the reverse.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Yes I feel this way too. Hate the light and heat. Have always hated summer. The other 3 seasons I can cope with

Im a insomniac so I get even more anxious when the sun comes up and I haven't even had any sleep yet. Only good thing about summer is getting the washing dried outside 😂

LuckyMoonstone · 19/01/2025 14:49

Yep this is me. I hate summer. Sensory overload. As soon as the calendar flips over to 1st September it’s like a weight off my shoulders.

Arraminta · 19/01/2025 17:31

Yes, me! People think I'm crazy but I actively dislike hot, sunny weather with a passion. Hot weather makes me feel trapped and breathless and I hate feeling sweaty. I am uninterested in Summer clothes and begrudge having to keep everything waxed and exfoliated whilst keeping a light tan. I dislike going barefoot in sandals and shoes because my feet are soft and skinny and I invariably get blisters.

I feel I only start to relax and come alive as we head into September. I feel my spirits rise and and it's like I can properly breathe again. I yearn for Autumn rain and frosty mornings, for the smell of burning leaves and the wearing of thick jumpers. I follow the Dark Academia aesthetic and Claudia Winkleman in The Traitors is my style icon.
