Hi I have had several episodes of stress last year causing me to go off work sick last month. The final one being a work conflict issue that has now been resolved but I feel mentally exhausted by it all. If I try and do anything I start to get fast breathing, fast heart rate and muscle tension. If I go out I feel weird and almost detached. I’m also unable to sleep as well without medication. Has anyone else experienced this and how long was recovery for you thanks.

I had some time off with stress recently and am still going through the recovery part I think. I’ve found yoga and a good therapist to be very helpful.

Also, sorry to hear you’re feeling weird and detached but do try to keep going out as it really does help.

Thank you for your reply it’s hard to feel so ill all the time. I have just accepted I’m not returning to work until I feel well again. Yes yoga is good I try and walk and swim as well. I have tried meditation but I find it to hard.

I'm not off work but have been sick on and off since September and keep having crying fits. I'm considering asking to be signed off soon or handing in my notice. Its just getting too much.

its hard to function when stress makes you feel so unwell. Mine has passed now but I think I’m still in fight or flight mode.
