Why would I be feeling dizzy when I move my head?

Last few days I have had a weird dizziness, when I move my head,
No other symptoms. Is this a virus?

Probably your ears. Try some travel sickness tablets.

Ellopal · 16/01/2025 15:50

Dislodged ear crystals maybe? If you google it there are head movements you can do to rectify it.

Goodafternoonmillie · 16/01/2025 15:50

I was going to say ear crystals too.

Could be positional vertigo

Avenuesandboulevards · 16/01/2025 15:51

Very low blood pressure does this to me, I also lose my sight temporarily

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2025 15:58

Do you have very tense neck muscles? That does it for me.

spinspinsugar25 · 16/01/2025 15:59

I usually have low blood pressure
Not sure what very low is: is it a worry ?

I do have very tight neck muscles

I get this quite often but I am lucky that I can sort it out fairly easily using this manoeuvre. Do have a bucket handy, it can be quite disorientating.

I was going to say vertigo too. It's a problem with the middle ear.

I had it once and was advised to take travel sickness pills. Fortunately it didn't last long.

LifedestroyerifYOUletthem · 16/01/2025 18:19

I love mn op I've had this also, I have never heard of ear crystals

Jellykat · 16/01/2025 18:32

I had this really badly in the Summer (and incidentally have low blood pressure too)
My ears were looked at, eyes tested, all fine.. but the GP was convinced it was to do with my neck, as it got worse when i looked up!
I know i was probably dehydrated too..
So i drank lots of water, changed to thinner pillows so my neck and back were more aligned, kept my neck warm and used a Muscle cream.
It seemed to work!

Jellykat · 16/01/2025 18:34

P.s the theory for me was my neck was compressed and pinching the nerves and blood flow to ears/ eyes etc

imnottoofussed · 16/01/2025 18:45

For the exercises linked how do you know which ear? What would happen if I did the left and later did the right side movements?

WonderingWanda · 16/01/2025 18:47

Labrynthitis? Have you had a cold or sore throat recently?

There is a test to see which side the crystals are

Sassybooklover · 16/01/2025 18:53

Vertigo. I suffer from Vertigo. It's not very pleasant. Basically there are crystals in your ears, that have moved to where they shouldn't be. Eventually, it will right itself. There are exercises you can do, to help. Travel sickness pills can help, but don't always work.

Mingenious · 16/01/2025 18:55

Vertigo I get it too, only on my right side, weirdly! Started after an ear infection a couple of years so and gets worse when I’m run down.

I keep meaning to try the exercises.

ERthree · 16/01/2025 18:59

neck pain ? Or your muscles are normally tight ? BP out of kilter? Phone 111, sounds very similar to me when i had a heart attack, no other symptoms, no arm pain no chest pain, just the same as you. Please call and get advice.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 16/01/2025 19:08

Another vote for incredibly tight neck muscles! This can cause me to feel very dizzy, normally when I turn my head to the right.

I visit an osteopath on these occasions, and after two sessions, it passes.

spinspinsugar25 · 16/01/2025 20:37

No my neck muscles are normally tight.
Am trying to work out what it is there is def a correlation to standing/sitting

I am quite worried about this

Labrynthitis? I’ve had this a few times with similar symptoms to what you describe. It sorts itself out in a few weeks but it quite disconcerting, particularly the first time it happened.

MiniPumpkin · 16/01/2025 21:30

I’m on blood pressure meds and my bp is on the decrease so my gp said keep an eye on light headedness as can be a sign of bp dropping. Lie flat on floor for 5 mins and if you feel dizzy when getting up it could be low bp.
it could also be related to ears

AdelaideAtHome · 16/01/2025 22:13

Postural hypotension? Mine gets worse when I drink more water than usual. Electrolytes usually sorts it for me.
