DS is in Year 9 and has started his RS GCSE. Though he is reasonably bright, he is consistently failing his assessments because he becomes completely frozen by the pressure of a timed test. He came to me with a test score last night that he was really disappointed about. He says he knows the answers, but the minute the clock is started, his mind goes blank and he doesn't know what to write.
Has anyone experienced with their own child? And if so, have you found any useful strategies to help cope with the feeling of being preoccupied with the countdown? We're looking at how to feel better prepared, but he's struggled with this all his life - for example, his SATS scores were awful, and did not reflect his real ability.
I'm rather lost as to how to help him - any advice on this would be great.
