Parcel delivery

Neighbours weren't home a couple of days ago when they had a delivery come so the delivery bloke asked if we could take it in. We did, that's fine. But...

I have tried knocking each day (when it's obvious they've been home) and no one has answered the door. I guess they must have had some kind of message saying it's been delivered to us but they haven't come to collect either. I've seen on Google that you shouldn't really leave it on the doorstep once you've taken it in for someone.

I don't have their number to text so shall I send a note through the door and hope they come? Do I keep it for eternity until they decide/realise it's here?

Not first world problems I know but I don't know what to do😂

Genuinely worried you’re our neighbours. It was my birthday in early January, friends sent a birthday present that didn’t arrive when expected and now we’re on holiday.

Could they be on holiday? (In our case a car has been parking outside which might make us seem like we’re obviously there but it’s actually a friend parking to stop it looking like we’re away.)

I’d put a note through and give it a week or two!

Also sometimes someone is in but it’s our cat sitter.

Will put a note though and let them know just incase, thank you!!

Their car is back and fourth as usual and I heard the kids earlier as they had the windows open so I guess they must be there at some point throughout the day.

Our old neighbours did this, we saw them coming and going but if we went out to try and say something to them they would scurry away back inside or into their car and ignore us, wouldn’t answer the door (they were a very weird family, always had lots of friends around, parties in their garden etc so were sociable people but if someone on the street said hello they would run away). We saw the Yodel guy put a card through their door so knew they had been told.

In the end DH just had to leave it on their doorstep, it was a big heavy box and he wasn’t exactly gentle in putting it down, at that point we didn’t really care if was damaged or stolen.

Yes, that's what our neighbours are a bit like. Banging around the house til late, having people round everyday but just don't seem to be bothered about collecting the parcel. I don't usually mind taking in parcels and I haven't seen her out the front of the house to actually go out and give it to her but it's just weird that it's stuck in my house.

Put a note through the door. Delivery companies don’t always leave a message or card. I’ve taken things in for my neighbour and after a day if they haven’t collected I text them. Often don’t know parcels been delivered, so now I always drop a text if I take something in for them

Will put a note through the door saying that we have the parcel and I will be home at ... after work tomorrow if they want to come and collect it then. Thanks everyone
