Help me think of a game!

I need to think of a game for 30 kids (aged 14 - 17) that they can do can do in teams of 5.

The past few years I have done a photographic scavenger hunt, a different photo based scavenger-type hunt, and a quiz. Trying to think of something different to do this year.

We will be based in a hotel and so scavenger hunts have all been based around the hotel grounds. Needs to take about an hour.

Any ideas as I am stuck! Googling only offers things suitable for much younger kids

A murder mystery? You can get kits for bigger groups like this one 20-40 Player 1920s Speakeasy Murder Mystery Party Game Kit Printable Download for Large Groups Roaring 20s Great Gatsby for 20 People - Etsy UK, or you could get a few smaller kits like these Murder Mystery Game Kits | Host Your Own Murder Mystery Party – Masters of Mystery and split them off into small groups

A scavenger hunt where they have to find parts and build something and either have to beat the other teams to completion or they build something they can race?

What are you googling?

Use the term 'wide game' in your search - you'll get a few ideas from scout/guide based sites.

You could do something based around traitors/amongus.

Capture the flag is always popular.
They have to choose a base to hide their team flag and defend it while trying to steal the other teams flags.

They are 90% male, and I fear capture the flag could end up violent 😂 and while we have free run of the hotel and grounds, there isn't really a big open area. But I wonder if I could build on the sort of idea. I know the kids and they WILL play dirty!

I should have said it will be out of the UK so won't have much space to take things with me.

What do they want to do?

That's always a good starting point.

Cluedo is another game you can scale up.

Hide the cards around so they have to hunt them down, you can even give each team a clue card they have to show if they meet another team.
First team to guess the right answer wins

They want to cause mischief in the pool, or sauna, or play music on their balconies too loud 😂

I like the idea of using cards.. I only have a £20 budget including prizes (buying socks!) so now thinking what I could do with cheapo playing cards..

If you know the layout of the place, could you put together a treasure hunt? You will have had to set this up before hand and had different clues for different groups and have them in such a way that you know where the first, second, third, fourth and 5th clues would be hidden.

You say you have 6 groups of 5 kids, so give each of these groups a colour.

Make it so that the clues make up a 5 letter word so you'll know if they got the clues in the right order for their colour group.

Have each group of 5 set off in 1 minute intervals but in different directions to find their first clue. Each stop will give them a hint to where the next stop is but it will also give them a letter for their word. Each team gets to make up a different word.

So, they have to be clever to work out their clues and also get the letters in order because if you give one team the letters to make up the word BEING and they only say get 4 of the 5 letters, they guess and spell out the word BINGE which wouldn't be your word, they would be disqualified.

This is roughly what I did last year. I hid items around the hotel, and took a photo of where they were - but close up so it wasn't easy to tell. The first team back with one of everything won! I started each one off with a different photo. We won't discuss the team that was hiding other teams items which ended up with kids jumping in the pool fully dressed to retrieve them 😂

There are various pre written escape room games available online, same with murder mysteries

Put together a Tiktok style dance routine to their choice of music & film it

Crystal maze type game with some mental games (can find brain teasers online or bring puzzle games) some physical challenges (hold a handstand for 5 seconds etc) and points for each completed
