Any podiatrists on here?

Hi, removed my toe nail polish tonight (not gel just regular polish) and two of my nails are white. They feel smooth enough but are really discoloured. Any idea what would have caused that? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Possibly fungal infection. Is there a picture?

Or could be reaction to acetone.

I had this too after wearing nail polish for a few weeks straight. Thought it was a fungal infection too but turned out my toenails were dehydrated. Give them a break from the polish and use nail oil on the nails twice a day. My toenails recovered in around 6 weeks!

Could either be some damage from the acetone. Or the nails have lifted due to trauma

Fungal infection also a possibility, but I can't really see if there is anything between the toes as well. (You could try a fungal nail treatment. If it is fungal it is early stages so anti fungal should work. It will take a few months to grow out.)

Or if affecting both feet could be psoriasis in the nails.

Thank you @quiteathome , it's just 2 toes on one foot and nothing between the toes

Probably trauma, or damage from the nail polish and acetone then. To be safe either wash any clippers and don't share a nail file from those toes to your others, and see if it grows out

Mine always look like that-I've presumed it was just damage caused by the varnish or remover chemicals!

Rachierach11 · 15/01/2025 21:46

Mine do this when I leave nail polish on for too long. Tends to right itself after a few weeks if you can leave your toe nails without polish on
