Taxis in Lanzarote?

Question for any Canary Island regulars. Is there an equivalent of Uber or Bolt (Malta) for taxi from the airport to Playa Blanca? Went with TUI last time who arranged transfers but want to DIY this year (at massive £££ saving)!

Google just throws up airport transfer services, not local taxis.

Uber works in Gran Canaria so maybe Lanzarote too?

Seasonsfeastings · 13/01/2025 20:04

Just get a taxi off the taxi rank at the airport

BloddersMum · 13/01/2025 20:13

We will be catching the regular bus service down to Playa Blanca at half term. Think it's hourly from outside the terminal. We thought about a taxi but even with three of us it's still much cheaper on the bus.

AnyFucker · 13/01/2025 20:19

There is no Uber/Bolt in Lanzarote
There is only the council owned taxis that in recent months are fewer and fewer in number. Many went to the mainland during COVID lockdowns and never came back
I visit PB regularly and it getting worse with long queues at peak times
We always hire a car

MumonabikeE5 · 13/01/2025 20:20

Is there not a rank ar the airport?

HealingForest · 13/01/2025 20:32

@AnyFucker that's useful to know thank you. I found it odd that the big H10 I stayed at in Yaiza could command a taxi within minutes, but at the stand in Playa took 1/2 hour to queue.

Taxi ranks I don't see anymore. Here in Malta there's a taxi 'station' in the airport where you can get a taxi but they charge twice the price of Bolt.

In Nice there's no taxi rank (not at T2 anyway) just a very expensive tram .. that's cheaper from T1, & free to ride to.

Taxis seem to be dying out so surprised no Uber/Bolt in the Canaries.

You can goggle taxi in lanzarote. Book online and pay before you travel. Also there is a taxi rank outside airport.

I second the buses. They are super cheap and run regularly. We use the moovit app to plan journeys.

artfuldodgerjack · 13/01/2025 21:41

Do they have Cabify there? It's popular in the mainland.

HealingForest · 13/01/2025 21:52

Thanks all that suggest the bus. I think I'll do this - is luggage okay to travel with on the bus?

There’s a rank outside the airport but the bus is great - you can take luggage on (they’ll put in the luggage compartment). Buses are really good there, if you want to visit other parts of the island.

Yep there is a luggage hold.

Shopgirl1 · 13/01/2025 21:55

There is a line for taxis at the airport. I’ve been twice in the last year and had no trouble getting a taxi there, the queue moved pretty quickly.

Notateacheranymore · 13/01/2025 22:09

If your flight is landing at peak time then, sure you might have a bit of a wait. Worse with EasyJet because so many more of their passengers aren’t on a package with a transfers included, but the taxi drivers know when the flights are due. As many of them as possible are there, and actually it helps that passengers can only get a taxi when it’s in it’s home zone.

I use first minute transfers when we go to Lanzarote. You can book it online. My dad has an apartment there and he goes regularly, and always uses them and they've always been very reliable.

You book online, give your flight number, and they track for any delays. Then there'll be a chap there in a bright orange t shirt as you come out of luggage reclaim ready to take you to your transfer.
