CMOTDibbler · 13/01/2025 17:08

Sympathy for the Devil - a very long time, before we were together as a couple, we were in a tiny and grotty club and a very drunk now DH was dancing to it and he looked so great. When I hear it, I see him then very clearly

Pink Floyd " Wish you were here" : I'm afraid for the very obvious reason that he has been dead for many years. But I love to play that song and think of him.

Yellow because when we first met it was his alarm on his phone then, ironically, a few years into our relationship it was the colour he turned before he was diagnosed with cancer.

I'm single but I saw your post and understand what a beautiful song this is and all the emotion it evokes.

It's my favourite song to play on the guitar and I also think of a lost loved one every time I play it ❤️

It's strange, I have songs that make me think of all sorts of random people, like my ex boss from 14 years ago or the university friend I haven't seen for 30 years, but I've never 'assigned' my husband a song - when I say 'assigned' it normally just happens when a person in my life gets a song, but once it's happened I officially call it that person's song in my head.

wastingtimeonhere · 13/01/2025 19:35

Dire Straits- Walk of Life. DH loves it.

SmeII · 13/01/2025 19:38

Not a song but a lyric (from Witchita Lineman)-

And I need you more than I want you.
And I want you for all time.

Stirabout · 13/01/2025 19:39

Forever young - Bob Dylan

and dh just said he’d chose
Delaneys on the wine again for me or
Grace - Wolfe Tones as I can’t stop playing it.

MaltipooMama · 13/01/2025 19:40

You Are Everything - Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. It's always been one of my favourite songs of all time and the first evening my partner came round it came on my playlist, I knew he was the one when he knew all the words! Whenever I hear it now I get taken back to that first night. Happy times 🥰

Dearg · 13/01/2025 19:42

Magic by Coldplay is one of ours too. But also Level 42, Something About You , which was very much song of the moment when we first started dating.

First time we slept together I got thrush 😂

The bare necessities of life - jungle book 😂

I came back home slightly earlier from work years ago and my DH was in the kitchen singing it at the top of his voice, not realising I was back. He had been watching the film with the children while I was out. Still makes me think of him prancing around the kitchen while he was putting the washing up away enjoying every bit of the song.
