Poor recall & making notes about interesting things

Hi

I really struggle with recalling interesting things that I hear or read about day to day. it’s been a lifelong issue really. It hasn’t affected my ability to get a degree and hold down a professional job. However I would love to actually remember at least some of the interesting things I learn about every day. I’ve resorted to making notes on my phone every time I come across something I want to try to remember. The notes are now quite long and disorganised so I’m wondering if there’s a better way to do this? Thanks

Have you tried recording voice notes? I have found it far easier than writing everything down

I forget such things in a matter of minutes so I have to write them down on my phone immediately. Sometimes it’s not possible and then the interesting/amusing thing is lost forever.
Maybe list them under subjects - ‘interesting’ ‘amusing’ ‘historical information’ or whatever - though there will be plenty of overlap.
I have such a list on an app called ‘pages’ then if I can’t remember the whole thing I can write one word into ‘search’ and it will come up.
I think collections of such things which are published - or at any rate, printed - are called ‘Commonplace Books’.

@Andante57 Ah thanks for telling me what they are called! I can now look into options. I think an app with some sort off tagging function would be good.

With over 1300 notes on my phone, this is something I'm also interested in!
