40th birthday gift ideas for a man

Tinks15 · 12/01/2025 21:54

Please throw some ideas at me for a nice gift for a man who is turning 40. Struggling big time as he doesn’t have any particular interests so no idea what to get, my budget is about £50-60.

Thanks 🙂

Tickets or a restaurant voucher maybe?

MeltingSky · 12/01/2025 21:55

A watch? What's the relationship to you?

Ordnance Survey map centred on home: https://shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/custom-made/

Getting it framed will go over your budget, but maybe Ikea do suitably large frames?

Beer. Just find out his tipple and order a nice case. For the budget you cant do better. Unless he's teetotal.

Oh god, anything but alcohol. My exDH had a 40th birthday party and every single gift was booze. He's 52 now and our youngest son just finished the last bottle from the party.

Who is this person to you? What are their interests/likes/dislikes?

ForPearlViper · 12/01/2025 22:07

Age and gender. That really narrows it down! You obviously don't know him very well so it would better to stick to alcohol (if he drinks). Or with that budget a gift card for an innocuous shop like John Lewis.

A bottle of whisk(e)y?

My DH loves walking etc but even I think that's such a weird present 😂

Nice jumper in the sales?

What does he like?

TartanMammy · 13/01/2025 08:22

Following as my dp is 40 this year and really hard to buy for. Failing the usual alcohol, clothes, aftershave but that doesn't feel very special for a 40th.

Does he like football? a retro top from his favourite team?

ViciousCurrentBun · 13/01/2025 09:24

Why is there a need to buy a gift is my first question? What’s the link to him.

If he really has no interests then I would buy him a gift card for coffee at a local cafe/ chain cafe.

AnneButNotHathaway · 14/01/2025 09:01

Any particular teams he likes? Could be something from their official store or maybe a custom calendar with their photos? If he likes food or beverage, you can get him a subscription box, there are multiple options available:
