What would you think if you saw this while checking in to a hotel? (Lighthearted)

It appears to be living in an hole under the reception desk. It ran over my DH’s foot on its way back to its little home. Any guesses for which country? Special bonus if you can narrow it down to the hotel 🐀 Hint: 3 star hotel. One night costs approximately £135 (either in £ or the equivalent local currency 🤣)

The Euston one is grim, though the staff were lovely, which is particularly impressive since it must be like working in a combat zone.

The (male) staff member who entered my (female) room at 3am was not lovely.

Neither were the head office staff who refused to believe me or investigate a male member of staff entering a female's room in the middle of the night.

@VegTrug That was a joke

That is NOT a Siberian hamster! They're chunkier, have white underneath and don't come in that colour on top. I have one! I know them well

ah but this one is a filigree Siberian hamster

HongKongFinish · 12/01/2025 21:28

Brunswick Hotel, Hove. Although I'm not sure even a rodent would stay there.

PersephoneSmith · 12/01/2025 21:28

The Adelphi in Liverpool?

Fair enough. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Oh hell no

SmellLikeStreepForCheap · 12/01/2025 21:30

Honestly, I’d have turned on my heels and left.

If there’s a mouse confidently wandering through reception he’s been there a long time and there are generations of his family in the kitchen.

PullTheBricksDown · 12/01/2025 21:34

For anyone puzzled by all the Siberian hamster references:

WearyAuldWumman · 12/01/2025 21:37

Holiday Inn Express?

DustyMaiden · 12/01/2025 21:39

I’d go home.

Is it a Britannia hotel OP? I stayed in one of those once and it was a dump!

I came on to say this...awful hotels! Smell of cabbage and grubby as all hell 😨

Lovelysummerdays · 12/01/2025 21:46

Not really the point of the thread but housekeeping is undervalued in many hotels. As it’s a department that doesn’t make any money then managers like to cut costs.

Then you end up with filthy corners. I’d of left as where there is a brave little mouse there are many more in the kitchen incontinently weeing over everything.

Id forgive a lot in a hotel but not dirt or vermin.

CanwetalkaboutRalph · 12/01/2025 22:11

I'd think f*ck that for a game of soldiers and I couldn't get out of there fast enough 😫

Mum2jenny · 12/01/2025 22:14

I loathe mice/ rats. When one was in my house, my ds went and got a neighbour to deal with it. He brought a 12 bore!! Wtf?

Covidwoes · 12/01/2025 22:18

@LostMyLanyard the cabbage comment made me laugh! Honestly I couldn't believe how bad the hotel was that I stayed in! Never again!

And then what happened!?😳🍿

Ursulla · 12/01/2025 22:27

I hope you found somewhere else to stay. A confident happy mouse in a hallway full of people means many more throughout the building.

CaptainBeanThief · 12/01/2025 22:33

STOP CALLING SYRIAN HAMSTERS Siberian hamsters 🤬🤬 sorry it winds me up 🤣🤣

It looks like the one in Scarborough? The grand one ? Can't remember, me and my husband went there once, we had a "basement" room it was like a fucking dungeon 😬😬

Ursulla · 12/01/2025 22:34

I thought they'd closed that one down.

Blogswife · 12/01/2025 22:55

I would have passed out . There’s no way I could have stayed there. It’s my absolute worst nightmare 😧 😢

lcakethereforeIam · 12/01/2025 23:04

Didn't the Scarborough one fall off the cliff? I heard it caused tens of thousands of pounds of improvements.

Mansionscoldandgrey · 12/01/2025 23:19

I think you should contact the person in charge of mousekeeping.
