Something that maybe got lost in a house move, left behind when you left home, broken, or that you didn't realise how much you loved until years later. Something that when you think about it now fills you with nostalgia.

Mine is the sun/moon face watch (day/night as opposed to a classic moonphase) that my mum bought me for my 16th birthday in 1988. They were such a thing then and I loved them so much. She got it from the catalogue and was still paying for it by my next birthday bless her. DD bought me a version of it for Christmas and I absolutely love it, but I wish I had the original too.

Also my original Magic Faraway Tree books from the 70s.

What's yours?

My yellow and blue roller boots. I loved them so much,

I had yellow and blue roller boots! They were velvet. I felt so fancy.

Efillufwa · 12/01/2025 23:29

My original Trolls collection, the ones from the Trolls film are not like the originals.

A gold belcher chain that my mum bought me for my 18th. I lost it. And I know how much it cost her, she also paid it off weekly. I was absolutely distraught when I lost it, I searched everywhere for months afterwards. I don't think I fastened it properly when I'd taken it off and put it back on again.
I daren't tell her for nearly a year. As it turned out, she'd noticed (even though I thought I'd hidden it well!) the fact I hadn't been wearing it and didn't want to upset me by saying anything! I miss her every day and wish I still had my necklace.

Secret seven books which I read over and over again as I didn't have many books. Also a handmade blue painted wooden doll's cradle which rocked and a baby doll which, like others, I was persuaded to give away to younger children when it was decided that I was too old for it. I have a very vague memory of an elderly man making it for me when i was 3-4 but I have no idea who he was.

Tittyfilarious · 13/01/2025 00:59

My point horror book collection I absolutely loved them but my mum stored them in a shed outside when we moved house and they got ruined 😭

Danikm151 · 13/01/2025 01:08

i want to introduce my son to playing dance mat games but the plug in ones you get now are nowhere near as good!

Build A Better Burger. I WILL own it again one day. I will.

This isn't mine. It's random pic off Internet. I yearn for it.

Oh my goodness. My sister and I had this and we loved it. I bet my kids would too.

I really wish I had my Kermit alarm clock still. It was very comforting in the night to see the glow in the dark hands and just about make out Kermit's face. I look on eBay now and then but have never seen one.

That was my absolute favourite game, I wish I still had it!

No one else I've mentioned it to remembers it!

I wish I'd kept my big yellow teapot for my kids.

I had this little yellow toy with yellow hair called sunshine that giggled when you shook it . I loved that toy.

I also wish I'd kept all my classic books - What Katy did, little women, Heidi etc.

Snugglebum that was it!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/01/2025 07:45

My red Snoopy watch, with Woodstock as the second hand. Timex still make them (or have started making them again) and am seriously toying with buying one (I'm in my 50s).

RabbitsRock · 13/01/2025 07:54

Great thread OP. I wish I still had my wind up musical jewellery box with a miniature ballerina inside. Loved it from the moment I got it.

Alex Drake · 13/01/2025 08:10

My Storyteller magazine collection with the accompanying tapes. I had two binders worth.

A weird one but my mum and dad’s VHS and audio tape recordings, they had dozens and dozens and it would have been so funny to watch/listen to them as an adult - mum had lots of films taped off the TV, pirated vhs from others, six hours of CITV taped in 1991 or so. I have got a box of my mum’s mix cassettes which are brilliant - gives me an idea of what my mum was like in the 80s before I was born.

Reminds me of a famous episode in DH family-his dad took a dvd lying round (which was completely full of DH and his brothers precious childhood footage) and taped The Godfather over it!!!!!

pinkroses79 · 13/01/2025 08:21

My first album, which was on a cassette. I really loved it and wouldn't be able to play it even if I had it, but I still wish it was there.
I don't know what happened to it, it just wasn't around after moving house.

decemberdawn · 13/01/2025 09:34

My favourite board game Bewitched. I loved it and would play for hours with my sister during the school holidays. I think it got given to the charity shop at some point about 25 years ago. I was heartbroken. You can still get it second hand on eBay but it's always so expensive.

Oh my god! I’d forgotten this game, I loved it so much! Thanks for the reminder!

HopeSpringsInfernal · 13/01/2025 10:21

All of the books I had as a child.

A game called High Finance, which was about buying stocks & shares. It must've been from the late 60s/early 70s & was much more fun than it sounds. I've looked for it online, but only saw one, which was sold years ago

Arraminta · 13/01/2025 10:29

I was about 15/16 and saved up to buy a beautiful cherry red, lambswool cardigan from Next that had embroidered flowers on the collar. Very Heidi-esque. Absolutely loved it until it disappeared. To this day, I think a certain friend stole it.

I regularly trawl all the 2nd hand sites for it, but have never seen it. I would happily pay ££££££ for it.

ChristmasPudd1990 · 13/01/2025 10:54

Forgot. All my copies of Smash hits magazines. Discontinued things ie chocolate. My old school cookery books for the recipes.

KhloeKardash · 13/01/2025 10:55

Uninterrupted sleep 🤣

Manchesterbythesea · 13/01/2025 11:01

My dolls house that Santa brought when I was 5. A friend of my parents made it for me. It wasn’t big enough for Barbie but I had these other small rubbery type people in it and loads of furniture. I loved it so much!
