What do you do while you watch tv?

Me and DH only have about an hour after the kids are in bed and the house is sorted before we go to bed. We usually just watch a show but I end up scrolling on my phone and missing whatever we're watching.

What do you do while you watch tv to keep your hands busy? I've started cross stitch and just got myself an adult colouring book but else do you do?

Something that doesn't have noise so I can still listen to the tv please

I just watch TV, I don't "do" anything else. But if you need something to distract you then perhaps the programmes you're watching aren't that interesting?

It's a phone addiction - I have one too! I try to have my phone in another room and just focus on the TV but it is so hard to break the need for busy hands.

I knit.

I can't just watch TV. I knit socks or crochet
If i don't have something to do i end up playing a game on my phone

Crochet but I aim to do one thing (in this instance, just watch TV). Monotasking is my life long struggle 😆

I'm not too fussed on the TV, it's more for DH but it's nice for him to chat about the shows he's watching with me so I'm happy to half watch while I do something else

Yes! I think picking up our phone is like a default setting now when we're not busy doing anything else

Crosswords - I have the books of them and I sit on the sofa with my dog, both of us under a blanket and watch tv or something streaming and do crosswords. Love it.

I try and knit while watching but the pattern I'm doing ATM is too complicated and I need to concentrate on it or I make mistakes.
So I've been doing jigsaws lately while watching - 1000 piece ones.
I also admit to just looking at my phone sometimes.

I get my laptop out, and then check my e-mails..... MN......FB......Sometimes peruse Zoopla or Rightmove...... sometimes look up something that's come up on the TV I'm watching......banking.

Sometimes I knit, or play patience, or (obviously time of year depending) things like write Christmas Cards, or letters.

Or you are just a person that needs to be doing something with their hands.

If I'm with someone I talk too much and interrupt the dialogue. If I'm alone then nothing really. Apart from smoke, vape, eat, drink.

I cross stitch or knit once my grand daughter is in bed at 7, my youngest is 15 so old enough to sort himself out till bed time and my dh will watch something on his computer or football/darts in the tv in the conservatory. He's usually in bed before 10 cause he's up for work at 4.

I'm currently watching TV (Sweetpea) while on Mumsnet, Vinted and Amazon

Suspected ADHD as doing 'just' one thing doesn't scratch my itch and I tend to fidget / pick at my fingers / bite my nails

I read. DH loves watching TV. I can take it or leave it. I deliberately leave my phone in the kitchen so I'm not scrolling it all the time.

I'm as phone-addicted as the next person, but I'm never on my phone while watching tv, as I only watch tv when it's something I actually really want to watch! I do knit or crochet while watching tv though (but no complex projects, otherwise I'd miss bits of the programme or make mistakes in my knitting!).

I’m the same as @AllProperTeaIsTheft . I only watch TV I really want to watch, so it gets my full attention. I do tend to fiddle with things while I’m watching, though - my fidget ring gets a good workout.

I put ear defenders on to block out the noise and read! I couldn't care less about the tv so if you're not interested read instead.

I eat crisps! Not a good habit that one🙂Sometimes sit on the floor and do a bit of gentle yoga/ stretching. I do like watching foreign language programmes with subtitles so that means you have to just watch, can't fiddle with anything else which is quite good.

This honestly sounds like heaven

I tend to watch a lot of foreign stuff then I can’t do anything other than watch TV and read the subtitles, it’s my way of really relaxing in the evenings.

I often walk on my walking pad, do bicep curls or chair dips whilst watching tv. I try to put my phone out of reach if there is something I want to concentrate on otherwise there is too much temptation to pick it up

I knit

I need to do something with my hands and if I don't knit then I really struggle not to mess with my phone

I don't do anything else. I'm not keen on TV as background, I put the radio on if I want to listen to something while I am doing something else.
