What is the WI equivalent for husbands?!

My DH needs a "church" of some kind - something you go to often where he can meet other people
Inspired by other thread about someone going ti the WI would the WI equivalent be?

Masons or the Pub or Football traditionally.

If he is more handy he could see if there is a blacksmith / wood working workshop he might like to go to.

Well what are his interests? Does he like any sports?
I've known men get this through tennis, golf, football etc.
Or any other interests - drawing/ book/ film groups etc - more likely to find things like this if you live in a city of course.
Rotary groups seem so old fashioned but then so is WI I suppose.

Maddy70 · 12/01/2025 12:04

Am dram? They always need more men!

HappyPanda613 · 12/01/2025 12:11

Why does he need to be around other men only?

beetr00 · 12/01/2025 12:13

@wickedelphaba as PP's have suggested, could this be a fit?

There's always one. 😬

Nothing good comes of men being able to gather and socialise exclusively without women or non binary folk.

What an odd comment. I love being in a group of just women. Different dynamic to when there are men in the group but it doesn't mean that I don't enjoy men's company as well.

Why does he need to be around other men only?

Why shouldn't he want to make new friends with men?

I would say mens shed.

Don’t mistake me, I never said he shouldn’t make friends with men. I’m just troubled by the apparent need to find somewhere that exclusively caters to men. My friend’s husband plays Warhammer at a club that is entirely men and now he comes out with all sorts of mental stuff about feminism taking over the world and turning women into men.

Indianajet · 12/01/2025 12:24

My late husband belonged to a gentleman's lunch club - they met once a month for a talk then lunch. He was also a golfer, so socialised with friends at the golf club. I think it is important for men to have friends/hobbies, just as it is for women.

That's just ridiculous! 🙄

Someone has started an Andy's man club in my town and has been promoting it on local FB pages. I've seen posts on FB asking if there are any clubs get togethers for men to meet friends locally as well.
Maybe try asking on your local FB to see what's about OP.
