Please help me phrase a stalk-y question

Hopefully not as bad as the title sounds.

I went to school with a girl and we follow each other on Instagram. We were never good friends but just casual acquaintances and since have messaged "congratulations" on each others weddings and babies or "liked" an occasional photo.

Anyway, it does look like she lives abroad from Instagram and she put up a photo at an exhibition today of an artist I quite like. Out of curiosity I googled where that exhibition was and it happens to be a country that DH has very recently been offered a job in. We don't know anybody in this country, it is a non-western culture and we are trying to get more insight into what life there is like.

Is there a non-stalky way to say "I Googled the exhibition, saw it was in X country, I'm guessing you live in X country, would you mind answering some Qs I have about it as DH has been offered a job there"?

Any advice is gratefully received x

Can't see what's wrong with how you've worded it on here.

Just because the exhibition is there doesn't mean she lives there?

Hi Casual Acquaintance

Am I right in thinking you live in X? If so, would you mind... etc etc.

Just because the exhibition is there doesn't mean she lives there?

From her general photos and stories it seems clear she hasn't been UK based in a really long time. You're right it could be she's on holiday elsewhere in the region but I feel like that's where she lives (given she had a baby a month ago)

Hey. Hopefully not a weird question but you don't live in X, do you? We just had a job offer here and wanted to know more about it. I got the impression somewhere you might live here and might be able to answer some questions about it.

Unrepentantfarter · 11/01/2025 18:30

Ooh, X - love that artist. Is that the exhibition currently in country Y by any chance? We're thinking of moving there for work. Do you mind me asking what it's like?

OTT

Just create a post on MN stating the place he has been offered a job and ask for advice from n whatever it is you want to know
